This review is from: Fluffy, Snuggly, Cuddly Baby Animals (TOUCHABLES) (Board book)
my 13 month old daughter learned to say "puppy" the first time i read this book with her. i've pointed out puppies in other books before, so i give this book credit for being interesting enough that she was actually paying attention! the animals covered in this book are bunny rabbits, kittens, elephant calves, penguin chicks, and puppy dogs. there are 10 pages, and there is a pull-out puzzle piece on every other page with a touch-and-feel area (one for each baby animal). most of these areas are on the animal's fur or skin, but the puppy only has a small touch-and-feel nose. she likes to pull out the pieces by the fur, so it's hard for her to pull out the elephant and the puppy. she still loves the puppy page, but she ignores the elephant calves.
overall, i like this book because the pull-out pieces make it more interactive (and interesting for my daughter) than regular touch-and-feel books. the pieces are made out of the same cardboard material as the book itself, and seem durable. i gave this book only 4 stars because they chose a lot of dull colors for the pull-out animals - a dark gray bunny, a black kitten, and a gray elephant. the penguin and puppy are really cute, but since there are only 5 animals, i was hoping for more color on the others as well. |
