sticking patterns,
This review is from: Sticking Patterns (with CD) (Paperback)
Great book. The material in the book is presented in a very straight forward manner and the cd included really helps "visualize" how the exercises are supposed to sound. This is not a beginners book. But once you get to the level where you can read the rhythms the material is highly valuable and versatile. It will change the way you think and hear the instrument. I think its particularly useful for jazz. But anybody can benefit from it.

Having trouble being creative behind the kit? Tired of being too repetitive n predictable? Then look no further. This book works wonders and opens up a new world of possibilities and ideas. It truly is a great book for all levels.

A must have,

This is one of those books that I've been coming back to for years, much like Ted Reed's Syncopation. If you're idea of sticking patterns is limited to alternate strokes or paradiddles, this book will completely change the way you approach sticking for timekeeping, fills and soloing.
I particularly enjoy the compound stickings and broken double strokes. One of my top 5 drum books.

Like most instructional drum books, most come with a CD, if you are not up to speed with your reading you will have a difficult time keeping up with the author. However, if the authors of these books would do a video, creating a show and tell lesson, then the new student and intermediate student can see, hear, and practice along with the instructor. Most of these books are ok but missing a little more thought. JR
