Book Description

August 4, 2011 11 and up Stickman Odyssey (Book 1)370L (What's this?)
When Zozimos is banished by an evil witch (his stepmother!) from the kingdom of Sticatha-the kingdom he was next in line to rule-he trains at battle (if you call chasing after butterflies training), travels across stormy seas (thanks for that, Poseidon), slays golems and monsters (with a lot of help), charms beautiful women (not really), and somehow (despite his own ineptitude) survives quest after quest. By the love of Zeus, though, none of it brings him any closer to home!

It does, however, make for one quirky, original, giggle-provoking graphic novel sure to appeal to any kid interested in Greek mythology, or merely looking for an entertaining read.

5.0 out of 5 stars A humorous Greek stickman adventure September 11, 2011
By Wigg
Format:Hardcover
This the story of Zozimos, who goes on an epic quest to regain his throne. He meets many friends and enemies along the way.

My son (10 years old) just finished this book. He loved it, and is waiting eagerly for the next book in the series. He says it is one of the best graphic novels he has read. It is a comedic take on Homer's odyssey, featuring a collection of funny stick figure characters in a fantasy world with lots of excitement. Parents of younger children may wish to know that there is a little bit of blood and violence.

5.0 out of 5 stars My 8 yr. old loved this book! March 11, 2012
Format:Hardcover
My son, who loves to read, read this book twice in a week. The first day he sat down and read the book in one sitting, laughing out loud from time to time. He enjoyed it so much, he picked it up on the next weekend and read it again. He has since lent it to a friend (same age) who also read the book in one sitting. We can't wait for the next one and to find more books as entertaining. My son has also enjoyed all of the Diary of a Wimpy Kid series and the book, Middle School, the Worst Years of My Life.

I wish there were more entertaining authors who wrote for the male boy population who love to read!

My son LOVED this graphic novel and found it hilarious. As a way to get him engaged in reading, it was a big win. In terms of introducing him to the classic story of Homer's epic, it was not so good. The plot was barely recognizable because the author took so many liberties. If I were Mr. Ford's English teacher and this graphic novel were submitted as a book report alternative, I'd have to give him an A for creativity but a D for attention to plot detail.
