Great combination of songs, interesting lyric and vocals. A fresh sound in a generally boring music scene.
Miles ahead of the average bands out there.

If this album was a teddy bear I would hug the stuffing out of it. I wear my tight, brightly colored pants and run around the park with this blasting on my ipod, occasionally stopping to join a drum circle.

Things to expect:
Male/Female/Female vocal harmonies.
Guitar/Bass/Keyboard/Drum
Lots of refrains
Heavily processed vocals for effect at certain points. The vocals are clean for the most part.

Standout tracks
The Sticks
Let's Fall in Love
Business Man
Infinitesimal
Latter Days

Lyrics cover some heavy subject that are masked by the poppy sound at times. This record as a whole doesn't tread far from the beaten path. But it is very well executed, would recommend.

Edgy, brilliantly musical, great arrangements, great production! Not a clunker here. Ryan Guldemond (the lead singer) reminds me (at times) of a grittier John Lennon (especially on "Business Man"). At other times I hear a dash of T-Rex and/or David Bowie. Also, touches of the Beatles in certain songs. Their songs and lyrics tend to have a dark humor flavor. Go to YouTube and listen to "Let's Fall in Love" or "Modern Love" (from their newest album "Very Good Bad Thing"). Play "Bit by Bit" and crank it up! Gets you up & movin'. And if that doesn't do it for you, well ... what can I say, maybe it's time for the Geriatric Ward?

For me, Sticks is a mixed bag, as if they're searching for a different sound. It's miles apart from what remains for me their best and most cohesive effort, "O My Heart," a stunning collection.
These guys are too good to release a bad album, but the material and style misses the mark this time. They're a solid touring unit that puts on a tremendously powerful live show and they
deserve much wider recognition and success, but I don't think the Sticks will be the album that connects with the uninitiated.

I love this band and I love this album. Mother Mother makes great use of variety and textures in their own, cleverly demented sort of way. I discovered them by way of Nickel Creek's cover of their song "Hayloft," and I immediately bought all of Mother Mother's albums. I don't regret it at all. What a great band! I hope they come to Atlanta soon.
