Wow!,

This review is from: Sticks and Stones (Audio CD)
This was my first NFG CD, and I decided to get it after hearing "My Friends Over You" on the radio. And, half expecting to be disappointed, I was blown away. From the outstanding intro to the hidden track, it was amazing. Here's the track by track rundown:1. Understatement- This is the way an album should start. Great lyrics and a very memorable chorus. 10/10 12. The Story So Far- A great way to end the CD with an awesome chorus and good lyrics. Stay tuned to about 25 minutes into the song to hear a pretty funny hidden track. 10/10 So, if you like punk/rock, NFG won't disappoint you. I had liked only one of their poppier songs and I was still impressed. This CD will be in your rotation for a long time after you get it.

Well, NfG is my favorite band and this is thier best Cd so far. Drive Thru Record's best band! This is the playlist and their ratings for "Sticks and Stones' 1. Understatement-10/10-Great leadoff song, latest single, my favorite song on the album. 2. My Friends Over You-10/10-First single, awesome lyrics, great song 3. Sonny-9.5/10-Not as good as the first two songs but still an awesome song, kind of sad beacause it is about Jordans grandfather that died. 4. Something I Call Personality-9.8/10-The best music on the Cd, lyrics are good but song is only 2:40 long. I like the when they say "Lets Go" and "Hell Yeah" 5. Head On Collision-9.4/10-Second single on the Cd, very good lyrics but the chorus could be better. 6. It's Been a Summer-10/10-Second best song on the album, song about a summer where he meets a girl. 7. Forget My Name-8.5/10-Good song with good drums and overall music. 8. Never Give Up-9/10-Not the best but really good. 9. The Great Houdini-8.5/10-Different song, still good though. 10. Singled Out-8/10-Probably my least fvorite song on the album but still a great song. 11. Belated-8.2/10-A little better that "Singled Out" a slower paced song. 12. The Story So Far-10/10-A great way to end the Cd, makes you want to listen to the Cd over and over again. If you fast forward to the end of this song there is the band talking, very funny.

NFG'S best work to date...,
By danny (Crofton, MD) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sticks and Stones (Audio CD)
Wow. Even those who may have shunned off the self-titled CD may want to have a listen to "Sticks and Stones." NFG has scored again, with 12 incredibly well-written tracks, with the standard infectious melodies and lyrical content. Jordan still loves to write about girls, but these songs show a maturity that lacked on the self titled, "Nothing Gold Can Stay" and "It's All About The Girls." The guitar tones on this album are greatly improved, as is the guitar work of Chad and Steve in general. Ian's bass work is also quite impressive this time around. Jordan's voice is at it's prime, and even edgy in spots. Guest appearances from Mark Hoppus, and members of Alkaline Trio among others are a cool addition to an already great cd. While the same "fun" element from their previous cd's is here...the songwriting on "Sticks and Stones" is NFG's best...no question about it. My favorite tracks so far are "Head on Collision", "The Story So Far", and the single, "My Friends Over You." However, there is not a weak track to be found here. NFG fans will not be dissapointed, and those who haven't ever picked up a NFG release...this is a great place to start. Good work, guys!

Dear, Your name here...,

A New Found Glory is a most germane name for this Florida native band. Recently releasing their third chart topping album, "Sticks and Stones" proved a huge milestone for the band. The album is composed of creative love lyrics and the original sound NFG has carried in their career. The lyrics describe past relationships gone wrong with songs like "Head On Collision" and "My Friends Over You". The musical sound stretches from fast-paced emo to the slow tempo of a ballad. Passionate writing of relationships allows a wide range of people to relate to the songs. Along with the powerful and distinct voice of Jordan Punkik (lead singer), this CD is a must-have. Although creative and most enjoyable, many fans would agree, "Sticks and Stones" didn't surpass the quality of NFG's self-titled sophomore album (which has proved to be their best release to date). This CD was more formulated, was not as raw, and possessed more of the "pop" sound many alterntive/punk/rock groups try to avoid. NFG lost some of their underground, punk-influenced edge they once had. Regardless, it's a fine piece of art.....I give it four stars.

NFG's Latest,
By A Customer
This review is from: Sticks and Stones (Audio CD)
I have been an NFG fan since a friend introduced me to Nothing Gold Can Stay. I loved that CD, and it got me hooked on NFG. I loved their Self Titled CD even more than NGCS. With Sticks and Stones, I was a little skeptical, and I felt it could never live up to the last two. Although its not quite as good as the other two, Sticks and Stones is still a very good album from NFG. 1. Understatement - the album starts off strong with this song, which is a little edgier than their songs on Self Titled, and has a catcy chorus that you can really sing along to. 10/10 2. My Friends Over You - a lot of people dont like this song because its their new single, and they think that NFG is going pop. I like it though, and I can really relate to the words. Not as strong as the others on the cd, but definatley good. 8/10 3. Sonny - my favorite track on the album. The intro hooks you right away, the words are very original, and the whole song just fits well together. Kind of a slower song, but definatley good. 10/10 4. Something I Call Personality - this song has a guest appearance by Mark of Blink, but you really cant tell. Pretty good song. 7/10 5. Head On Collision - nasty. This is a very close second behind Sonny. Cool riff in the middle too. 10/10 6. Its Been A Summer - the only song I dont really like on the CD. Still good, but doesnt live up to the rest of the CD. 5/10 7. Forget My Name - very catchy. I didnt like this the first time I heard it, but it has become one of my favorites. 9/10 8. Never Give Up - this is a pretty good song, not as good as the others, but still a good song. I like the chorus of this song. 7/10 9. The Great Houdini - this is one of the better songs on the album, but not as good as songs like Head on Collision and Sonny. 8/10 10. Singled Out - pretty funky intro, and overall a very good song. 9/10 11. Belated - this song doesnt really stand out for me. I like it, but it is not up to the others. 7/10 12. Story So Far - good song to end the album on. If you listen to about 25 mins on this track, you can hear the guys messing around, kinda funny. For the song, 8/10 Overall, this is not my favorite NFG album, but that doesnt take away from how good it is. I would definatley recommend this to any fan, I would say it lives up to the others, even though it doesnt quite beat them. Also, check out the song The Minute I Met You on the Clockstoppers soundtrack, its really good.

Punk is not about listening to bands like the MIsfits and T.S.O.L and other old punk bands. Punk is about not following the crowd and doing stuff your own way and not letting other people get in the way of your own intrests. SO technically if the pop punk listeners listened to all those idiots telling people to listen to old school punk then they would actually become something their not
Anyway this happens to be a great cd. Very differant from Nothing gold can stay and All about a girl. JOrdan's voice obviously was polished in some way. The instrumentals are actually very similar to the sound of their two first cd's. Now i guess I am going to review each cd. Understatment 5/5 An incredibly catchy song that doens't get old very fast. This song will please most NFG fans. My Friends over you 4/5 Most people will adore this song until about a week after they hear it when this song gets very annoying. Sonny. 4.5/5 This song has very creative lyrics and a very interesting story. SOmething I call Personality. 3/5 A song that most people will enjoy but it just doesn't do it for me Head on Collision. 4/5 Pretty much the same story as My Friends Over you. It's been a Summer 5/5 Starts with a very catchy riff and stays like that for the whole song. Forget my Name. 4.5/5 Very good lyrics. Never Give up 4.5/5 A song that can cheer anyone up The Great Houdini 5/5 Really catchy Singled Out. 5/5 Defienntly my favorite on the cd. Belated. 2.5/5 Pretty good lyrics but just doesn't have the thing that makes te other songs so great The Story So Far. 5/5 Great finisher Overall 52/60 A great effort

Best NFG Album!,
By Lil' Punk Boy (Waterville, Maine) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Sticks and Stones (Audio CD)
These are how I rate the songs-
Understatement- Possibly the best opener ever 5/5 My Friends Over You- A really good song but if you listen to it more than two times in a hour time period it gets annoying. 4/5 Sonny- Nice, Calm and Melodic but possibly the worst song on the album. 2.5/5 Something I call Personality- Really fast and cool it almost makes listening to "Sonny" worthwhile. 4/5 Head on Collision- Their greatest slow song ever. 4/5 It's Been a Summer- Really catchy to listen to and it will never get annoying even if you listen to it one-hundred times! 4.5/5 Forget My Name- This song kinda' reminds me of Sum 41, and that is a good thing a really good thing. But it can be really sad if you really listen hard to the lyrics. 4/5 Never Give Up- This song is a little more hopeful than "Forget My Name" and I think everyone can enjoy it. 3.5/5 The Great Houdini- Has nothing to do with Harry Houdini and so I say WTF!!! 3/5 Singled Out- I like the techno beginning alot and the rest also rules. It is the best song on the album next to "Understatement." 5/5 Belated- Sorta' sucks but in its own way it is good. In other words it sounds like a Simple Plan song and that is a put down. 3/5 The Story So Far- Cool song very awesome except for that P.O.C hidden track. Get rid of the hidden track and you have a winner! With hidden tack loser! Keep the Hidden Track, 0.5/5 Without, 5/5 Possibly the greatest punk album ever.

NFG has broken away from the punk/emo garbage that pollutes the airwaves, but has managed to keep the relationship theme that runs through all their albums. Instead of selling out to mainstream, NFG has pulled mainstream to them with Sticks and Stones.Understatement: 88/100 - "I'm done with everything/That had to do with you/Don't worry your pictures are already burned" Good start to the CD, pretty hard and very catchy. My Friends Over You: 95/100 - "Please tell me everything/That you think that I should know/About all the plans you made/When I was no where to be found" Hard hitting single and great second song. One of the best on the CD. Sonny: 98/100 - "Every breath that you remember/Pictures fade away/But memory's forever" My second favorite song. Slows down a bit and talks about losing someone close to you. Awesome chorus. Something I Call Personality: 85/100 - "Before you jump to conclusions/About all the friends I have/Just remember they were born that way" Not much too this song. Fast paced but it sounds like a filler. Head On Collision: 97/100 - "Another tragic case of feeling/ Bruised and broken/From our head on collision" Again, NFG sounds great when they slow it down a little. 3rd best song on the CD. It's Been a Summer: 90/100 - "I don't believe in sure things/There's pain in what the truth brings" Good song about being lonely over summer. Not a huge standout but very catchy. Forget My Name: 92/100 - "Don't trace your footsteps back to me/Cause I've been gone for a long time/Waiting on the sidelines/Hoping for a chance to play" This song grows on you. It's about always being on the outside looking in, and how when you leave you won't be remembered. Really good lyrics. Never Give Up: 88/100 - "I'm tired of my conscious/Always telling me to stop sleeping in/But I can't waste a second/On dreams that will never begin" Ok song, nothing to write home about. Good lyrics but a little repetitive. Filler. The Great Houdini: 91/100 - "I went to your house but you weren't at home/I'm sure you conveniently shut off your phone" Good song about giving up on someone because they are just too much trouble. Catchy song. Singled Out: 93/100 - "What will you do when there's no one to fall back on/I won't be there/I've learned my lesson" A song about someone leaving their true friends and learning too late that they're all alone. Belated: 94/100 - "Bridges will fall from under us/But weak or strong/We'll get through this" Good song but not a stand out. Lyrics lack depth but the song is catchy. The Story So Far: 101/100 - "And everything else is irrelevant/To the story so far" Best song on the CD. Not too slow, great baseline, awesome lyrics, incredible way to end a CD. Contrasts songs like My Friends Over You. Great Song 1122/1200 - Great CD, Buy it and it won't leave your CD player.

Great, but not for NFG,

Well I'm a crazy NFG fan........and I was counting down the days for this CD to come out. And don't get me wrong, I love the CD, and if I wasn't comparing it to their older stuff I'd say it was great. I can understand that it may be hard to top their self titled CD though, because I think it was absoloutely amazing! But this CD is great too, just not as good as their last in my opinion. But it is definitely worth having in your CD collection. If you like Blink, The Starting Line, Fenix Tx, Mest, Simple Plan, Sum 41, GC, MxPx, you will like NFG, and you will like Sticks and Stones. Some of my fav songs on it are Understatement, It's Been a Summer, Sonny (great!), My Friends Over You, #8 (I can't remember what it's called). Anyways if you're gonna order it off the internet I'd buy the ones with the extra tracks Forget Everything and Anniversary, I don't know why they didn't put those songs on all of the CDs, because in my opinion they are a lot better than many songs that are on the CD, they're more of the self titled quality of songs I find.

Some more Pop-Punk ...,

What is this [junk]? Everyone from Blink 182 to Good Charlotte to this are a bunch of punk-posers. I'm not a hardcore punk fan but at least I can tell the difference between pop and punk. I'm tired of all these MTV poser bands. If you want to hear some real hardcore punk then go listen to Rancid or The Distillers.
