Editorial Reviews

Eric Sardinas and Big Motor are back. After their successful 2008 debut they return in 2011 with Sticks and Stones. Sardinas has put his onstage lighting in a bottle for the new album Sticks And Stones, an 11-song odyssey that ricochets from die-hard country blues to stone boogie to romantic pop to flame-thrower rock n roll. Matt Gruber, whose credits range from Ricky Martin and Carrie Underwood to the Scorpions and Lit, returns for Sticks And Stones an album that Sardinas says captures the full range of his playing and the full excitement of his trio's stage performances in a studio setting for the first time.

5.0 out of 5 stars Solid Disc!! October 4, 2011
By Jerry D
Format:Audio CD
Note to Eric Sardinas fans-Don't hesitate on buying this one-it's excellent! For those of you who really don't know much about Eric Sardinas, and you like your blues hot-Buy this disc-you'll become a fan...
How do I describe Eric Sardinas and his playing? How about vintage guitars with an unmatched tone-the dobro and steel guitar sure can sound sweet (which it does in places on the disc), but in Eric's hands IT CAN ALSO THROW FLAMES!! I have to admit that I worry about his guitars, and hope that they don't fall apart; I'd think that they're golden...
Back to the new disc, Eric does a great job on this one, covering the full emotion of what tunes he does, from Delta to full-out hot blues are on this one. I have to rate this one right up there with Devils Train as a favorite (though I do like them all). And lastly, thanks Eric for making the tunes radio friendly in length, this helps me make more folks Eric Sardinas fans....

From the very beginning till the end Sticks And Stones is a high-quality Blues Rock that will send shivers down your spine.

Expressive, inspired, heartfelt, raucous etc. You find an epithet. This album deserves highest assessment, where there is no weak point through eleven tracks delivered with deepest emotion but still album has its peaks and among them should be emphasized "Through The Horns" with extremely dangerous guitar playing, "Ratchet Blues" with bone-deep acoustic guitar, and all-instrumental "Behind The Flight".

Obvious thing is that Mr. Sardinas never gets tired during the set, you can't see him relaxed, this is the world of up-tempo, downbeat, burning, rollicking, lowdown Rocking Blues.

Mr. Sardinas keeps his music within the boundaries of Blues which many acclaimed contemporaries of him are unable to do. Thus, big applaud.

Excellent album from one of the finest acts on the world's Blues Rock scene.

5.0 out of 5 stars Bringing Back the Blues December 13, 2012

The blues have been done over and over again. It's pretty hard these days to keep the blues fresh. We've heard our share of blues riffs. There's been a lot, and I mean A LOT of blues guitarist who each paid their dues. How do you keep it fresh? Well, Eric Sardinas did it for me with the release of "Treat Me Right." Now once again, I'm thrilled to be grooving to the riffs of his electrifying dobro. Eric Sardinas' sound is the sound of traditional delta blues that's overloaded with intensity. His tone is both familiar and new, and makes you go "hell ya!"

"Sticks and Stones" is raw and intense.
Highly recommended for any blues fan.

A lot of love, laughter and passion went into making the record and we hope you all dig it. Then go out to see the band live! Producer Matt Gruber.

This is the first album I purchased of this band. I like the rock n roll / blues sound of this band & the gutsy guitar through out, it sounds old schooll inmany ways to me
