3.0 out of 5 stars IT WAS OKAY!
This book was just OKAY for me. At times, I felt that certain things just didn't make sense to be added in the book. For example, what was the purpose of Samantha receiving that call from the other guy at her house? What about the Correction Officer threatning to get her back? That situation just died out and never mentioned again. I think certain things didn't need to be...

4.0 out of 5 stars Another One Bites The Dust!, September 3, 2008
This review is from: A Sticky Situation (Paperback)
Kiki Swinson, author of Wifey, has done it again with this knock-out, drag-out, drama-filled tale, A Sticky Situation.

Keeping the tone upbeat and full of excitement, we are introduced to Maxine Shaw, a federal parole officer who has fallen in love with one of her parolees. Ms. Shaw is a stickler for following the rules, but when her heart becomes involved she throws caution to the wind. Seth Richardson is this hardcore drug dealer who sweeps Maxine off her feet, but he is a cheating, conniving liar that will do anything to get ahead. An ex-con and former drug dealer, Seth is trying to stack his cash for when his girlfriend gets released from prison so they can ride out into the sunset.

While Maxine is showing signs of low self esteem, Samantha Mitchell, is back on the scene and is claiming what is rightfully hers and that is Seth. Freshly released from jail, all she can think about is reuniting with Seth. But once she realizes he has not changed his old ways and refuses to remain faithful to her, Samantha decides to take matters into her own hands.

Filled with double crossing players, back-stabbers, and straight up snitches, this book will have you jumping out of your seat. I recommend A Sticky Situation to fans of Ms. Swinson and Urban Fiction readers.

For example, what was the purpose of Samantha receiving that call from the other guy at her house? What about the Correction Officer threatning to get her back? That situation just died out and never mentioned again. I think certain things didn't need to be included in the book. I didn't like Maxine's character at all! Not only was she crazy, she was very needy and it was very aggravating! I know women like this do exist but it just became too much. The ending threw me for a complete loop. It wasn't even expected but the crazy thing is...I didn't like the ending. To me, it just didn't make sense. Is this a set up for a part 2? Does she just get away with it? It was okay. It's entertaining and I would suggest to others to purchase it.

5.0 out of 5 stars One of KiKi's Best, June 8, 2010
This review is from: A Sticky Situation (Paperback)
KiKi had it all in this book: drama, suspense, lots of killing, explicit sex, drugs, deception and the plot was soo deep. Everybody in this book was crooked. I especially loved the way that it ended. I never saw it coming. I love it when a book throws a curve ball at me (just when I think I know it all)... At least a 5 Star book.....

5.0 out of 5 stars Truly Sticky, May 11, 2008

This review is from: A Sticky Situation (Paperback)
I had a chance to read the book early because I met Kiki at her book signing. This book was excellent and I was really unable to put it down. I found myself reading it at stop lights just because i needed to know what was going to happen next. I thought the book was going to end differently but just wait and see. It's wild, exciting, and the ending will blow you away.

4.0 out of 5 stars My first by her... not my last..., November 18, 2008
This review is from: A Sticky Situation (Paperback)
I met this author at the BEA this past year and she was very nice and that is the MAIN reason I got this book. I knew she had written other books but I never had the "umph" to get them until I met her. (Note to authors: you NEVER know when you're going to meet a future or current fan)! Anyway, I had it in a box with the other thousands of books I have and ran across it this past week. All in all I really enjoyed this book. Seth had me wanting to kill his tail, Maxine... well Maxine (to me) was just plain pathetic! There are other characters but the story revolves around these two.

Kiki tells a very unbelievable yet believable story. Maxine has a much heightened sense of self which is good until you realize it's all fake, especially when she gets around Seth. You've heard the phrase "they're so smart that they're stupid"? Well this is Maxine through and through. Maxine knows this and Maxine knows that but as soon as Seth comes around to give her a little action she becomes the dunce in the classroom! He plays her like a harp and she fall for it Every. Single. Time. It was almost too much and I almost didn't continue the book because of her. Her "I'm a strong woman until I need some lovin' or until he tells me what I want to hear" routine was really starting to get on my nerves! Seth would do her soooooooo wrong but she would ALWAYS, ALWAYS say that "this would be the last time" or "I won't let it happen again, believe me". It got to be pathetically sad. I was like are you that blind? Unfortunately the answer would be a constant and repeated "yes".

It did not end the way I thought and I like that. I had it in my mind how everyone was going to turn up but it was nothing like I thought. There is true drama in this tome and a few scenes of some pretty hot and heavy sex which definitely helps out the story (heck, pretty much ANY story) hahahahahaha!! `A Sticky Situation' is a fast, easy, and fun read.

Ok for me to give a book 5 stars,it has to be damn good,And this book was on point. This was my first time reading a novel by KiKi Swinson and homegirl just recruited a new fan cause this book was most def a page turner,Not only that the ending was SICK!(in a good way)I never saw it coming!!!!!!!Maxine was crazy as hell, and I actually felt bad for her in the beggining, but as I read on,she lost all sympathy from me.I mean how desperate can you be?????As for Sam,homegirl held her own till the very end,I could see her as a main character in a future novel.I hope there is a sequel cause this book is a must read!KiKi should hook up with Deja King and bring Precious and Sam together in a story, cause these some bad bi**hes for real!

2.0 out of 5 stars What a mess, December 4, 2011
By
This review is from: A Sticky Situation (Paperback)
I just could not get into this book. The characters were just so juvenile. Maxine was supposed to have it all together, but she was just so stupid when it came to Seth. In the beginning she seemed like she had everything together, but as the book when on she just turned into a total nut case. Seth, I just could not bring myself to like him at all. There was just nothing redeeming about his character. Samantha, I really didn't expect her to do what she did in the end. All in all this book was just not good. The drug selling aspect of it was mediocre, the sex scenes were sub par and essentially non existent. I'd say definitely skip this one.
