Great Songs Great Score,
This review is from: Stigmata: Music From The MGM Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
When i first decided to buy this soundtrack i didn't remember much from the movie Songs i mean even the score. So i bought it one saturday night and i thought great i probably won't like this cd at all. But it turns out that i love this cd. I must have listened to it at least 5 all the way through. The song collection is awesome it starts out with Mary Mary sung by Chumbawamba which is a very catchy song. the best song on here is Release sung by Sinead O'Connor and the Afro Celt Sound machine which has a celtic theme to it but has a faster pace to it. The it is Billy Corgan's And Mike garson's signature track Identify sung by Natalie Imbruglia. Now to the score which is composed by Billy Corgan himself. The score has alot of different themes to reflect Patricia Arquette's condition for th more tender moments he uses piano very effectively combined with a small orchestra. It uses more electronics and Synth music but it never gets over bearing it is a pleasure to listen to and i hope that more people buy it.

Stigmata was one great movie, it was casted well, directed stunningly and dealed with a deep subject with due credit. It is one of the best movies I have seen related to the subject of the church and good vs evil. Whilst browsing my favourite DVD/CD shop I came across the movie sountrack and decided to opt to buy it and am glad I did.
Contrary to several people's complaints that the music from the movie was not on the sountrack, that is not correct, watching the movie before listening to the soundtrack, I did pick up 95% of the songs and the music sounds. What is most exciting about this album is that it incorporates music songs as well as music sounds that were played throughout the movie. Nearly all the tracks were supreme and yet at the end I did want to play it again. The Reflect pieces throughout the music tracks were mixed to create a mood of reflection within the innerself. Well done to the movie and the soundtrack. What a masterful masterpiece.

I haven't seen the movie yet, and maybe that's why this score didn't strike me as much as it seems to have struck other reviewers. I think the decision to have three very short pieces within a single track was wrong, wrong, wrong. I did enjoy this CD very much, though, and I certainly thought it was worth the money. I'm not a fan, but I realy liked Chumbawumba's "Mary, Mary." I am a huge David Bowie fan, especially of his later works like Earthling, Tin Machine, and even most of Outside (silly story aside, the album was wonderful), so of course I was excited to see he had a new one here. And it does not dissapoint. Perhaps my opinion of this score will change after I do see the movie. As it stands now, though, I enjoyed the collection of eerie songs to the ambient pieces in the latter half. If you want some truly creepy music from a couple of truly creepy movies, check out the soundtracks to Lost Highway and Arlington Road. Both are done primarily by Angelo Badalementi. Bowie, NIN, Rammstein and others do some work on the former. Both wonderful.

Spooky spiritual music,
This review is from: Stigmata: Music From The MGM Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
I bought this soundtrack as a gift for my sister, who is a great Smashing Pumpkins fan. Before i gave it to her, i had to listen to it, and i was amazed. At that time i hadn't watched the movie yet, but the soundtrack fascinated me by it's deep spirituality. It changes from spooky, erratic mayhem to calm and comforting balsam for your soul. I definetely recomend it.

"A mysterious work of Art..with a consistency to it !,

I am a huge fan of trip hop music and I honestly have to say I was very pleased to hear a soundtrack that touch on it. I haven't heard a consistant works like this since 1996's "Lost Highway's" soundtrack. This CD has a lot of Jem's on it "Identify" is a beautiful Haunting discovery! I was highly upset when I got Natalie Imbruglia's "White Lilies Island" and found nothing that resembled this artistry! Bjork delivered a version of "All is full of Love" that was enchanting compared to the original. It has become a cult favorite in my collection it is so beautifully well done! Remi Zero's song is really artistic and has a creepy funky vibe to it. I even feel the opening track is a nice song to be kind of a hard rock vibe! This cd starts off with the evil rock sounds and dips into the creepy "Trip Hop" stuff into the instrumental(creepy sound effect) score material. Great transition in my opinion, but the only song that disrupts the total vibe of the project is "David Bowie's it is really retro and entirely to fast! I guess they contributed that in the "Lost Highway" tradition. But his song on "LOst Highway" was much more fitting and creative than this. This is a beautiful work, it has a lot of diversity to offer without sounding like everything was tacked together like most soundtracks.I would have to say this soundtrack opened my eye's to the remix of "All is full of LOve !" And it showed me Natalie, at her best, so I thank this selection for those masterpieces! In my opinion those two songs, are masterworks in the trip hop archieves! The other song's are good, not a waste of money or time at all but I had heard some of them already. The score material is basically Trip Hop instumentals in my opinion, very erie and creepy sound scapes! This soundtrack does create a certain mysterious vibe that will have you relaxing and turning on the Black Light! It may be a while before we see another soundtrack collection that captures the essience of european music and horror! I hate these horror movies that come out and have cheesy rock sountracks. In my opinion it takes alot of mystery and horror from the films, cheapens the movie makes them abit cheesy!I hear that "Donnie Darko" Has a nice haunting score too it ! At least I liked what I heard in the film......... A

I adore this soundtrack. Although it lacks the drive of the movie (because you don't have the sexy visuals also increasing your heartrate), it's still a very intriguing and beautiful journey. The album starts out almost manic, with the eery yet catchy Mary Mary. It calms down without losing seductive energy. David Bowie really revs me up for my favorite tracks of the album--Identify and Inertia Creeps. Yet I personally think that Afro Celt's mix is the most beautiful and haunting on the album, perhaps because of the soothing feminine vocals. All in all, I think that it is a great album...great for listening to when you want to loosen up, meditate, fantasize, get creeped out, or do anything in the dark with nice accessorized lighting (think christmas lights, candles). It's seductive, entrancing, sensual...and just plain beautiful. Can you tell that Stigmata is one of my favorite movies? It's all about the cinematography and the soundtrack...and maybe the attractive actors...:)

FANTASTIC SOUNDTRACK ALL THE WAY AROUND!,

For those of you who are carefully scanning the reviews debating whether or not you should buy this CD, scan no further! This soundtrack is absolutely fantastic, and you will not be disappointed, especially if you are into movie scores, like myself. Overall the actual songs are great especially "All Is Full Of Love", "Gramarye", "Inertia Creeps", "Mary Mary", but they are all fantastic. The score is outstanding and delivers a very pronounced mood, and has a very gothic atmospheric feel throughout. As a whole this CD is very much worth buying and will not disappoint you. I would easily put this CD on one of my top favorites.

I bought this CD mostly because of the beautiful piano music and Bjork's song. I don't care for every track on this CD, but I think there is a little bit of something for everyone from classical to hard rock.

Good but not a definate must,
By Neil Heatley (Northern Ireland) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Stigmata: Music From The MGM Motion Picture Soundtrack (Audio CD)
The soundtrack starts of strong with the title track from the opening credits of the film 'Mary Mary'. If you've seen the film this is a good start and if not it's a rocking tune. The album progresses to get more moody featuring songs from Bjork and Massive Attack. The scoring of the film by Corgan is good but is rather repetitive. If you sat in the cinema thinking that the music was wonderful then this is for you, if not, borrow it off a freind and tape it.
