I'd been carrying around a 20 ounce finish hammer with a fiber glass handle and it was always banging my leg, either in the back or on the side. Since I only do finish work now I didn't see the need for such a heavy long handled hammer. In an effort to cut weight I purchased this one. It is everything it says it is. When I pulled it out I thought "I'm not going to be able to bang nails with this", but it works. I use a lot less effort and the nails seem to go in with fewer hits. The real difference is the weight. It is so light I forget I'm carrying it. It's shorter size also keeps it off my leg. This is also the only finish hammer of it size (considered a 16 ounce) that I was able to find with the hatchet style grip. For me they just seem easier to handle and swing with less gripping force. Finally the nail pull; I just don't get it, I didn't notice anything special about it.
The reason I didn't give it five stars is; I was knocking a nail out of a board and the the face got a gouge in it. A small one that doesn't even leave any marks but still I was surprised to see how easy it was to knick this. With my old Vaughan with the fiber glass handle, I knew it would be around as long as I needed it. I can see a life span with this one. Just not sure how long. For the price I expected something a little more durable, but I hear that is how it is with Titanium.

I recently purchased this hammer after swinging estwings for the pase 20 years.Recently diagnosed with tendonitus I was looking for a light, shock absorbing hammer to replace my old blue handled classic.I first tried the stiletto framing hammer but found it too bulky and long ,but this little trim model is just great. Over the last week we framed a large hip roof doing all the nailing by hand. While I admit that driving a 12d sinker requires an extra tap or two it is well worth the weight I no longer carry. These days I do most of my work with air tools but will always have a hammer by my side, and from now on this little stiletto wil be the one.

Ive only been using this hammer for about two weeks. I am a finish carpenter and was looking for something to help my tennis elbow. This hammer is amazing. Guys think it's funny until they try it. My elbow already feels better and the curved handle is great. The down side so far it that the face marks easily when you use a nailset. I plan to do some framing soon and I will probably get a Titanium framing hammer.

I'm a professional carpenter, and I own both this smaller finish hammer and the larger framing version. Because of the prevalence of nail-guns for most framing, I find myself slinging the 10oz hammer more often than not. Not only is it so light that I barely notice it hanging from my belt, the short handle also prevents the typical back-of-the-knee strikes.

i used the hammer to put up cedar shingles. it sure beat the 16 or 20 oz hammer in that i could use it all day and not tire. i wouldn't want to use it to bang in spikes as i don't think it is designed for that, but for finish work or puting up wood shingles it sure met my needs. rather expensive. i don't think i would recommend it if you weren't going to do something light and a lot of it.

The more I use this hammer, the more I love it. The lack of recoil makes it a pure joy to use. I'll never be able to go back to a lesser hammer, and I'm glad I spent the money.

This is the ultimate hammer. I own three of these. There's no hammering job they can't do.

This is a great hammer. This 10 oz. hammer works just as good as the 16 oz. steel ones. I got one for myself and my daughter and son-in-law. My daughter said it is now her hammer of choice.

I work in the film business as a Grip and I have to carry a hammer all day. 12 hrs a day; and I love this hammer. My back loves this hammer! It's light weight but the curved handle gives you that edge to really drive a nail in.
Alot of guys tell me that if I had to drive nails all day my arm would be tired, but I don't have to and I know a couple of carpenters on the job swear by it too. |
