Excellent book for considering pregnancy after loss., July 18, 1998
By A Customer
This review is from: Still to Be Born (Paperback)
Of the books I read on coping with grief resulting from a stillbirth, Still to be Born was the only one that addressed the emotional issues of a second pregnancy after losing a baby late in a pregnancy. It tells stories of other women who have lost their children and gone on to have more. Still to be Born realistically describes the grief process and the issues surrounding a new pregnancy. It addressed all my concerns and made me more confident about getting pregnant again while still making me aware of the emotional difficulties ahead.

comprehensive guide to a subsequent pregnancy, July 4, 2003
This review is from: Still to Be Born (Paperback)
Pregnancy after a loss is totally different to pregnancy before. After the naivete is gone, the bereaved parents are often fearful about having another baby; when they become pregnant, everyone assumes they have forgotten their lost little one and will concentrate only on the new pregnancy. This book examines head-on the mixed emotions of a subsequent pregnancy, offers guideines about knowing when your heart is ready to seek pregnancy again, and talks about many of the feelings a mother will have in being pregnant again after a loss. I found this book an invaluable resource. Read it once three months before you intend to conceive and then once again after you become pregnant. Highly recommended, although I'm sorry anyone would need to read this book in the first place.

one of the best on stillbirth, March 18, 2010
This review is from: Still to Be Born (Paperback)
This book was informative, sensitive, genuine, and concise. It offers personal stories, good advice, but is not too wordy or repetitive. A short, easy read for someone who is grieving and doesnt have the time or forethought to read hundreds of pages. You feel more like you're listening to someone over coffee than reading text. Recommended for late term stillbirth or early infant death. No mention of miscarriage. Another reviewer stated that this book did not help her because it was not about miscarriage. There are lots of books on miscarriage alone, or miscarriage AND stillbirth. Personally I found it helpful to find a book out there (meaning this one!) that I didnt have to skip around the miscarriage pages to find just the pages that applied to late term losses. This is one of the few only on stillbirth.
