Book Description

May 1, 1996
The copelands did what many of us can only dream of - one gloomy Canadian Winter they decided to pack up, rent out their home, buy a boat and go traveling. Liza, her husband Andy and their young children left their regular lifestyle to go sailing on their 40' boat 'Bagheera' for two years. They found their new life so exhilarating they stayed away for six years, completing a circumnavigation of the world and visiting 82 countries. STILL CRUISING is the sequel to the bestselling JUST CRUISING. Here their journey continues from Australia to Indonesia, Singapore, Malyasia, Thailand, The Andaman Islands, Sri Lanka, India, the Maldives, Chagos, the Seychelles, down the East African coast to Madagascar, around the Cape of Good Hope, then back through the Caribbean and Cuba to Florida.

Often sailing to remote and little known destinations, STILL CRUISING recounts some of the Copeland's richest, most exotic cruising and traveling adventures, including their greatest challenges at sea. It also includes a 'How-to' section and glossary.

Editorial Reviews

Review

As world-wide marine photographers we've met innumerable sailors but few have such interesting tales to tell as the Copelands. Excellent reading for cheering up those gloomy winter evenings. -- Keith and Ken Beken, Beken of Cowes Marine Photographers (1888), England

Beyond the considerable accomplishment of just taking off for parts unknown, this remarkable family does so with a refreshing spirit of calm elan. Author Copeland reports with a clever mix of dialogue and description that gets the reader to know her crew/family and then introduced far away places through their eyes and reactions. -- Gary Hoyt writes a monthly column in Sailing World Magazine. Author and designer, he is a former Olympic sailor and Sunfish World Champion, who founded Freedom yachts.

Liza Copeland and her family have live my dream. The author's delightful descriptions of the second half of their six-year sailing odyssey through 82 countries takes the reader to many places only a boat would reach. Because the Copelands were determined to travel inland wherever they could, the book is equally fascinating as a travel adventure. But be warned! STILL CRUISING is the stuff that stirs others to act out their own dreams. -- Kerry McPhedran, Award Winning Canadian Travel Writer and Editor, whose freelance magazine work has taken her around the world and on sailboats

5.0 out of 5 stars An Excellant Follow-up to, "Just Cruising.", October 19, 1998
This review is from: Still Cruising- A Family Travels the World: Australia to Asia, Africa and America (Paperback)
This is an excellant follow-up to the book, "Just Cruising." It is written in everyday language with descriptions and annodotes that puts the reader in the boat with the Copelands. As in her first book, Mrs. Copeland covers the subjects most sailors are interested in and leaves out the mudane. No maps and positions, no how to repair or replace, just good fun on a trip around the world. Read, "Just Cruising," first and then this book and you'll be packing the kids and heading for the boatyard...

I read Liza's first book "Just Cruising" and couldn't wait to read the sequel. I really enjoyed reading about her trip around the world. I wanted to leave my job behind and join her family. What an exciting life!
