First off...If your looking for "Make It Big" (the title track from the movie, "Troop Beverly Hills") be forewarned....This is not the same version as the one in the movie. It's still pretty good, however not AS good as the one in the movie. The other thing is despite the fact that this cd covers most of the Beach Boys songs used in movies, there is song that was not on here. It was "Daddy's Girl" from the 1989 movie, "She's Out Of Control". But overall this cd was adequate. It has its good songs and its more average songs...."Make It Big" was definitely my favorite song on this album. This cd is worth checking out for all you Beach Boys fans out there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Still Cruisin Indeed, February 27, 2004
This review is from: Still Crusin (Audio CD)
Highlighted by the surprise #1 hit "Kokomo", this 1989 disc from the Beach Boys is a compilation of a few old classics with some newer songs, many of which appeared on soundtracks of the day.

Of the new songs (besides "Kokomo", of course), the standouts include the title track, the rap crossover "Wipe Out" (before incorporating rap with rock was cool, the Beach Boys did it with the Detroit based rappers the Fat Boys), "Somewhere Near Japan", and "Make It Big". "In My Car" and "Island Girl" are B's, but not bad at all. The last three songs are gems from their older work that still sound just as great today as they did 35 years ago.

Nowhere near as challenging an artistic creation as "Pet Sounds", this is still a lot of fun to listen to, and showed that the Beach Boys were still capable of writing songs that were both fun and catchy, and able to reach younger audiences in addition to longtime fans. A great disc for some summertime fun and behind the wheel, this album is highly reccomended.

5.0 out of 5 stars A GREAT CD!!, March 28, 1999
By A Customer
This review is from: Still Crusin (Audio CD)
I've been a fan of the Beach Boys since I was about eight years old. I was worried about getting this CD, because, after listening to all of their older classics, I was hoping this wasn't just some CD an older group put out that wasn't very good. As it turned out, I had Nothing to worry about. This CD is GREAT!! I listen to it over and over again. I can't say a particular song to listen to, because they are all wonderful. An absolutly wonderful addition to any CD collection, whether you are a Beach Boy fan or not.
