Loved it!,
This review is from: Still Doll (Audio CD)
I was getting bored of American music so I'd thought I tried some music from around the world. I happened to stumble upon this cd. Great songs. Especially Still Doll. I would personally recommend holding off to buy this cd and her Suno No Oshiro cd since these are singles and in February she came out with a cd called Shinshoku Dolce, which has some of the songs from her single cds and some new ones. But either way you NEED to own at least one of her cds.

Only 3 tracks on the CD. Still Doll, Instrumental version, and Kuroi Torikago. The 3rd song is kind of odd, I kind of like it, the instrumental Still Doll is very pretty.
Still Doll is one of the most hauntingly pretty songs I've ever heard. A strong emphasis on string instruments, the first few measures of the song catch you. Kanon has a beautiful voice, and she matches the lyrics to the music in a soothing way. Even if you don't like Japanese music, you can't help but recognize this is a cool song.

Unbelievably beautiful CD! She is one of my daughter's favorite singers and musicians. Rare CD that both my daughter and I can listen to together.

Usually when Pop/Rock singers try to incorporate traditional orchestral instruments into their music the results are almost always, well, no pleasing or tasteful.
Kanon Wakeshima is a singer and a 'cellist and from the evidence of this single, she's a pretty good musician. "Still Doll" is one of the most interesting singles I've heard this year. It is actually hard to describe. It is in 3/4 time, delicately sung by Miss Wakeshima, features her violoncello, of course, some music box sounds, some discrete percussion and what sounds like a fretless bass in the background, possibly a keyboard? Gothic Lolita music? Well, I suppose it goes well with the look. I managed to get Kanon Wakeshima's album (NHh<`F) and I find myself playing it over and over again late at night.

I heard one of the songs on the track when I was watching the Vampire Knight Anime. "Still Doll" is the ending song and it was so amazing. I love the song. The song stuck with me and I just wanted to sing along. I haven't heard the rest of her songs, but the one song is super cool!!! Track three is supposed to be a music box version of "still doll", no lyrics but it's still pretty.
