Stellar Sophomore CD for Simple Plan,

This review is from: Still Not Getting Any... (Audio CD)
Simple Plan's second original CD, "Still Not Getting Any . . . " gives its legion of fans no letdown after the long wait for the second CD. If anything, it is an improvement on the first.
Fans at their shows have already been introduced to "Welcome to My Life" and "Shut Up!", both good, catchy songs just packed with the adolescent angst that is SP's trademark. "Shut Up!" in particular, shows the band's knack for combining downbeat lyrics with upbeat tunes, in a song which I interpret as a teenager's thoughts while being lectured by his parents. Something's changed a bit from the first CD, and that's the band's perspective. Many of the songs on "No Pads, No Helmets, . . . Just Balls" had the perspective of a teen complaining about a poor relationship with a parent. There's still a bit of that in songs like "Me Against The World" and "Shut Up!", but this time, more songs talk about a romantic relationship gone bad (for example, "Perfect World", "Everytime" and "Thank You"), and the perspective is more young adult than teenager--"Everytime" talks about the partner waking the singer at 3 a.m. and driving to dawn--not likely if still living at home. The band's characters are maturing, as is their music. Other notable songs include "Crazy", a throwback to Reset's (the predecessor band to Simple Plan) socially-conscious songs, and "Jump", plainly intended as a concert song but very strong in its own right. Perhaps the strongest song on the CD is "Untitled", a downbeat song with downbeat music, the dying thought of someone who doesn't know why he's dying, and despite the people around him, is dying utterly alone. The sadness which runs through many of the band's works is here in full strength. Softer than usual and using a piano (shades of "Meet You There" on the first CD), even if never released as a single, it may well be the band's best song to date. While lead singer Pierre Bouvier did almost all the singing on the first CD, much more is heard from backup singers Sebastien Lefebvre and David Derosiers, who do a lot more of the singing here, and they are well worth listening to. Extras on the DVD or flip side (depending on edition) include the video for "Welcome to My Life" and the program (shown, I believe, on MTV) about its making. Highly, highly recommended.

Wow...where do I begin with this album?
Well first off, I think it's amazing and I love it to pieces. All of the songs are great and there's not a track on here that I don't like or love. Pierre's voice, their musical ablities, as well as some other things have really improved, even though they were already really great before. I think that they've done an amazing job on this album and it's just...wow. I haven't been able to stop listening to it since the day it came out. The lyrics and music are great and so is the DVD, although I think the making of the record section should have been more than just 20 minutes. But all-in-all, this CD is awesome and I HIGHLY recommend this. I'm going to give a low-down on what I thought of all the songs on here: Shut Up! - Second song I heard off of here and one of my favorites. Welcome to My Life - First song I heard off of here and also another of my favorites. When I first heard it, I was like, "Wow, is that Simple Plan??", as lame as it may sound. But I became hooked on it and couldn't wait till the whole CD came out. I'll admit, this song had made me cry before. Perfect World - One of my favorites. Love the lyrics. Thank You - I can totally relate to that song, as can a lot of people also. Me Against the World - Great lyrics. Crazy - "Is everybody going crazy?" I also wonder about the things that are mentioned in here. Jump - One of my favorites. I can also relate to that song. Everytime - The lyrics are awesome on this song. It made me kind of sad when I first heard it/read the lyrics. Promise - Personally my favorite track on the CD. I love the lyrics and Jeff's solo on here is mind-blowing. One - Personally not one of my favorites but still an awesome song. Untitled - Another one of my favorites. I love the lyrics and the piano/strings/etc. Definitely one of the best songs they've ever done. So if you haven't already gotten Still Not Getting Any..., no wonder you're still not getting any! Just kidding. Sorry, that was lame. But what are you waiting for? Go out and get it!

One Of The Best Albums I've Heard,

This album has a lot of depth to it. Like the songs 'Welcome To My Life' what mostly every teen goes through these days, 'Crazy' the truth about what's going on in the world, 'Untitled' talks about drunk driving and really opens your eyes to that topic and makes you think, 'Shut Up' proving that you can say what you want and it's not going to get to you, and my personal favorite 'Me Against The World' talking about being yourself. There's the debate out there about what's "Punk" Does it really honestly matter? This CD is great. Sure Simple Plan's music is a but more poppyish, but that really doesn't matter. Honestly does the genre, or the way it sounds matter? Sure it's different from their debut album 'No Pads, No Helmets...Just Balls' but that's what made me love it. The guitars, the drums, the lead vocals of Pierre Bouvier, and the back-up vocals of David Desrosiers and Sebastien Lefebvre make this album outstanding. I bought it the day it came out and listened to it as soon as I could. The only words I could utter was 'Wow', and to this day I still utter that word, because honestly I could never get tired of listening to it, and this really is one of the best albums i've ever heard.

well.. i first heard "Shut up" before any song.. they played it at Warped. I knew this Cd was going to be awsome. I soon preordered it and then i got it hte day before it came out. i was soo excited that i opened it and it was so awsome!. and then i bought another one..
"SHut up"- Its a really good song About all the people that critizise them...Like all the peopel that go to their concerts and go "YOU SUCK".. "Welcome to my life" - This song you probably all have heard. MOst people can relate to this song.. like me.. and.. its about just how hard life is.. They wrote it because of all the letters their fans sent them.. "perfect world" -Really good song.. good meaning.. if you watch the dvd.. you know what i mean.. i kenw what it was abotu before i watched that though.. so seriously listen ot the lyrics. "me against the world" - Heaviest song they havve done.. its good though! "Crazy" I LOVE THIS SONG.. I seriously agree with it.. REALLY gOOOD "jump" - IF you are like.. hyper or something.. this is a good song.. "Everytime" - Its a pretty good song.. not the best. "Promise" - This is my Favorite song on this record. "One" - This one is also verry good "Untitled" - this ones sorta sad:( .. but its really nice All the songs are awsome. Also.. they do not say they are punk. And they ARNT poseurs.. they always say. were not a punk band.. were not a rock band.. were just a BAND..

To Be Blunt: This CD Is Good...,

Well, if your a fan of Simple Plan, then your gonna want to get this (if you haven't already). And for the folks who even like 1 of their songs, your gonna want to get this too. This cd is ridiculously awesome. If you thought No Pads, No Helmets... Just Balls, was good, this is a step up. I completely agree with the band when they said "Still Not Getting Any..." is a evolution towards their live sound. I saw them for the first time last nite in concert and it was crazy. Believe me, they aren't lying. The CD isn't one of those "all love song" CD's which really gets tiresome after while. This CD covers everything from what's going on in the world today with "Crazy" and the complex feelings when losing someone in "Perfect World", to fighting and standing up against those who try to keep you down in "Shut Up" and "Me Against The World". The CD has a good amount of diverse songs on it. So the CD by itself is hands down... awesome.
On the other side of the CD is the DVD. This is not like a simple 15 minute footage of Simple Plan stuff. This is packed with all sorts of stuff. It has their album in 5.1 Dolby Surround Sound, Lyrics to the album, Discography, A HUGE picture gallery of the band, wallpaper for the computer, weblink, and 20 minute making the record footage (and if you get it from Target, theres footage of when they were on tour earlier this year). So obviously, a CD and a DVD, oh yeah... this is a must have for anyone who has caught themselves nodding to "Addicted" or singing to "Perfect". Big up to Simple Plan... 5 stars all the way.

Simple but Good,
By True Rocker "Rock On!" (Chattanooga, TN.) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Still Not Getting Any... (Audio CD)
The first song I heard from this album was 'Shut Up'. Then I heard 'Untitled' on TRL. I thought both of these songs were pretty good, so I listened to some of the other tracks on a website, and ended up buying the album. When I got the album, I instantly put in my cd player and listened to some of the songs. I was most impressed with 'Shut Up', 'Welcome to my Life', 'Perfect World', 'Me Against the World', and 'Untitled'. after just one listen of 'Shut Up', you'll know that these guys are one of those punk bands that like to jump up and down and scream alot. 'Welcome to my Life' is probably the best song on the album, barely beating 'Perfect World'. 'Untitled' is a truly touching tear jerker dealing with the horrors of drunk-driving. It may even make you cry. Uhh... I didn't, of course. The reason I gave this album four stars is that the music is great, but they need to work on their voices. They sound like a northern pop band trying to sing rock. Now I know that's sort of what punk is about, but they need to decide whether their pop or rock. They fall into the category where the band isn't sure, so they play songs in both genres. other bands in this category include Hoobastank, Yellowcard, and Sum 41 ( I don't care what you say, Hoobastank aren't fully rock.) Hopefully Simple Plan will decide which they want to be soon, though I never plan to see them as rockers as good as Papa Roach, Green Day, and the extremely underplayed Breaking Benjamin. If you like rock, pop,or punk, I'd buy this album.

Simple Plan is the best band in the world. They have the best music, and i like their lyrics. Their lyrics are the best ones that i have seen ever. They mean things to me. I can relate to the band a lot. So does my sister. We both think that Simple Plan is the best band in the world. Whoever has never heard any of simple Plans songs, you should. You could probably relate to what they are saying in their music!!!!!!
