The Epitome of God's Love in Marriage,
By
This review is from: Still Guilty (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Still Guilty is beyond what one could think of in a romance...It is pure, unadulterated LOVE! God's love He intended for man and woman when He created Adam and Eve! WOW! Only says a portion of the emotions, love and thrills this book encompassed. The love, chemistry and relationship between Cheney and Parke as well as all of the Jamieson men and their women, only soars to the next level in Still Guilty, and by adding the importance of forgiveness to the storyline, ultimately strengthens the storyline and makes it complete.
It is my thoughts that this series should not be labeled as Christian Fiction, but instead Christian Romance. For to tag it as fiction, only says that Christians are unable to grasp the true meaning of romance and love, which is totally and unequivocally insane, for Pat Simmons has captured the very essence of love and romance in this series! Check out Song of Solomon in the Bible! Then you add in the antics of Grandma BB and her attempted murder charges; Kami, the little Diva; the Red Hat Society; Janea, Cheney's hateful sister; Rainey, her unforgiving twin brother; Cheney's judgmental mother and Roland, her murdering father as well as many more strong supporting characters, you get a plate full of drama only to be healed by God's unconditional love! Pat Simmons does an awesome job revealing how God's Word can heal, restore, and fulfill our every desire when we seek, believe, and trust Him wholeheartedly no matter how many trials and tribulations the devil brings our way! I highly recommend this book; however not before encouraging you to purchase and read the previous books in this series "Guilty of Love" and "Not Guilty of Love!" You will not be disappointed! Love knows no boundaries when it is ordained by God and covered in prayers!!!!!

STILL GUILTY by Pat Simmons is the third installment of The Guilty series which features the Jamieson and Reynolds families, their trials and tribulations, and their contingent and unconditional love.
With this installment, Cheney Jamieson is at a crossroad with her family; her father will go on trial for a hit and run incident from many years gone by. The victim was the husband of her self-appointed grandmother, Grandma BB. Grandma BB will also stand trial for shooting Cheney's father because he killed her husband. Her family has basically shunned her because of her relationship with Grandma BB. Cheney's mother, brother, and sister cannot understand how Cheney expresses forgiveness towards Grandma BB for shooting the elder Reynolds. Added to this dilemma is Cheney's brother, Rainey, and his inability to trust women because of an indiscretion by a former mate; an indiscretion he discovers his sister also made in her past. To further complicate matters, Cheney's husband, Parke, is seeking the whereabouts of a son he recently discovered had been in the foster care system and then adopted. Parke Jamieson descends from a royal African tribe and lineage is a very important aspect of their family. There are several stories at play here, each with its own quandary, but the overall theme centers around God's grace and mercy. The Jamieson and Reynolds families are at opposite ends of the spectrum when it comes to family ties and loyalties, just as they are unequally yoked in terms of religion and spirituality. There is much pain and grief within the pages and just as much humor. This mixture and balance is reality personified. Reviewed by Dawn R. Reeves of The RAWSISTAZ(tm) Reviewers

Love Endures,

This review is from: Still Guilty (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
STILL GUILTY by Pat Simmons is the third installation in the Guilty series. Cheney and Parke Jamieson are trying to be the pillars for their family. Cheney's father is on trial for a fatal hit-and-run accident from years ago. That accident killed her "godmother," Grandma BB's, husband. Grandma BB tries to take the law in her own hands and shoots Cheney's father. Now Grandma BB is also on trial. Meanwhile, Parke is on a search to locate the son he recently found out about. The Jamieson family takes their lineage very serious and Parke wants nothing more than to have Parke the "seventh" home where he belongs.
Cheney's twin brother, Rainey, holds a grudge against her when he learns that she had an abortion. His former girlfriend did the same thing and he feels like someone has to pay for the hurt he feels. It is not until he meets another woman, that Rainey learns he must have forgiveness in his heart before he can completely move on. Simmons continues to tell stories of God's love and favor. We witness true love amongst family; be that with couples, parents, and children. I was thrust into this family and wanted nothing but the best for them. There are times where the story slowed down, but it quickly picked back up. I was anxious to see those plots play out. The book can stand alone; but, I highly suggest you read the others in the series as well. This book was provided courtesy of the author for review. Guilty Series,

This review is from: Still Guilty (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
I just completed the series and it was refreshing to follow the characters as they found each, faced trials and continued to trust God. I am waiting to find out if Rainey and Josephine will make the love connection. Will Grandma BB return to church, repent and be restored? Will Cheney be the instrument God uses to lead her family to Christ? This is a excellent series and I truly enjoyed every page!

Still Guilty,
This review is from: Still Guilty (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
Parke & Cheney Jamieson thought they had put their past behind them and could move forward, but that is not the case. Cheney needs Parke more than ever since she lost the baby, and his mind is completely somewhere else. Parke is too busy looking for the son that he fathered a long-time ago. Once the search comes to an end, there's still the trials that are going on for Grandma BB & Roland Reynolds. Cheney's strong faith in the Lord has gotten her through so much, but now she's not so sure with everything that's going on with her loved ones.
Cheney's twin brother Rainey is still upset that she had an abortion. He also learns that one of his ex-girlfriends had done the same thing. He feels that someone is going to feel the pain that he is feeling. It's not until Rainey meets someone that he could truly see himself with, but in order to move forward, he has to seek forgiveness for the past. Author Pat Simmons continues the journey of telling how God's mercy can help you face anything that comes in front of you. In the third installment of the Guilty Series, Ms Simmons continues the story of Cheney and Parke Jamieson and how you think that the past is dead and gone, but in fact it's alive and well. I especially enjoyed this book because she gives you such a vivid and detailed story that it's okay if you have not read the other books in the series. What I love about the author is how she makes the characters so believable, and you just want to pray for them. I would recommend Still Guilty even if you have not read Guilty of Love and Not Guilty of Love. Reviewed by Jackie for Urban Reviews

I have not read any of the other books in the Guilty series, and before reading I felt that this might be a hindrance, however I was pleasantly surprised to find out that it wasn't.
Ms. Simmons creates characters that I liked and found believable, without having to know their full history from previous stories. This is an excellent story that showcases God's redemptive love no matter the situation.

Cheney Jamison is dealing with at lot of issues. One concerns a decision she made long ago that seems to be interfering with the lives of her and her family but especially her twin brother Rainey.
Although she is strong in her faith, lately she feels as if her life is spiraling out of control. Her husband, Parke, is not being as supportive as usual. His time is spent looking for a son he fathered at an early age. Apparently he`s forgotten that Cheney has just miscarried. Not to mention the trial between Dr. Reynolds and her good friend, Grandmother B. "Still Guilty" was a really good and powerful story. Pat Simmons brought it to the line. As I read this book it was just what I needed. I was going through my own personal struggles and all of the scriptures that Cheney and Parke recited I jotted down for my own personal use. I have told SO many readers about this series and I'm looking forward to reading more books by Pat Simmons! Reviewed by: Carmen

From Grandma BB and her court ordeal and Parke and Cheney trying to get little Parke. Rainey and his forgiveness issues and Cheney's father and family problems OH MY GOODNESS. If you have followed this story from the beginning like I have you will not be disappointed. I love how the author uses scriptures in the stories. I had to put the book down sometimes and just reflect on some of the scriptures that were used. This book for me is such a blessing. The characters come off the page and you feel like you know them personally. Ready for the next book!!

God is Faitful!,
This review is from: Still Guilty (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
What can I saw - another great read from one of my favorite authors. Besides showing the faithfulness of God I love how Pat depicts strong African American men who are not ashamed to call on the Name of the Lord. The storyline in Still Guilty was so great that I read the book in 2 days! Still Guilty continues the great series that began with Cheney and Parke. One of the unanswered questions from Guilty of Love is finally answered!!! It was awesome to see how God moved and showed His favor towards Parke. Then there was one trial after another, the Word is true - His grace is sufficient. This third book in this awesome series also touched on the issue on how you face seeing everyone else receive from God what you most desire - yet you still wait. Pat Simmons has the great gift of weaving intriguing storylines, geneology, and God's faithfulness into one book. As usual Grandma BB and Cami are still a hoot! You won't be disappointed with this great read. Still Guilty stands alone, but it will be a much richer experience if you read book 1 - Guilty of Love and book 2 - Not Guilty of Love. Cant' wait until book 4!

GOD IS GOOD, ALL THE TIME.,
This review is from: Still Guilty (Urban Christian) (Paperback)
God is good, all the time. Cheney and Parke are back along with the demons of their past. Cheney's faith has kept her family afloat and her past decisions are coming back to haunt her. Parke (Cheney's husband) is finding it hard to control his emotions as his search for a son from a previous relationship comes to an end. Rainey, Cheney's twin brother, has a strong presence in the second installment of the Jamieson/Reynolds story as he faces his fears, searches for love and opens his heart to God. As the court proceedings for Grandma BB and Roland Reynolds approach, the already strained relationships between all involved may reach a breaking. Only God can intervene and bring peace in the midst of the storm.
Simmons has again created a story family story with a biblical base. The characters are genuine while the issues hit close to home. Every family has their fair share of secrets but its how the issues are dealt with that makes all the difference in the world and that is the key to the realness of this story. There are parts of the story that are slow and predictable but the ending will renew your faith in God's almighty power. While this is the third book in a series, the background laid helps this book stand alone. Note: This manuscript was sent by the author for the purpose of review.
