5.0 out of 5 stars And Still I Rise is next to Kipling's 'IF 'and "Invictus', October 29, 2004
This review is from: And Still I Rise (Hardcover)
...Invictus is by William E. Henley......I do not like much poetry.....but 'Still I Rise', is one of the most moving and powerful pieces of literature of our day. You can feel the rumblings of motivation rising within you as you read it---it summons the power of our ancestors as you read it... YOU FEEL this poem with all your heart--or I fear you have no heart and you remember that feeling for years after you have read it!

It is a magnificent poem that the author not only wrote, but earned through her own life.

This book would make excellent Christmas gifts of inspiration.

5.0 out of 5 stars An inspiring book of true feelings!, June 20, 2000

This review is from: And Still I Rise (Hardcover)
Maya Angelou is a wonderful woman and an inspiration. Her books are like sweet melodies that flow through your head. I am 13, when I read her words of rhythm and rhyme I can't stop reading. She writes words of wisdom and truth and that's something most authors don't do! This book is a blessing and I say again a true inspiration!

5.0 out of 5 stars "Still I Rise" and Rising, November 4, 2002
A Kid's Review
This review is from: Still I Rise (Hardcover)
This book is filled with wonderful, powerful poetry that really awakened me to the troubles of African Americans in that time of history. Diego Rivera's paintings in the book are staggering and breathtaking. This is a must-see for any ameteur or lover of poetry.

5.0 out of 5 stars It was a way to say don't ever give up i think, May 31, 1998

This review is from: And Still I Rise (Hardcover)
I think it was the best book i have read in 13 and a 1/2 years. Miss Angelou is my favorite poet, I love all of her books. She is my role model. Out of 13 years she is the best black poet that the world has ever had ( i think). She has been through many hard times like me, and others in this world. She holds her head up high, and never lets anything get in her way. if i could I would love to grow up and be just like her.

This review is from: Still I Rise (Hardcover)
The title says it all. I love this poem. It's Maya's best so far. And I love the combination of the poetry and artwork. I hope she chooses to do this more often. A superb book created by a superb woman! *****

This review is from: And Still I Rise (Hardcover)
I am a highly motivated female and i love to read; reading this book motivates me to read other books that Maya Angelou or any other arthur comes out with, but yet and still this book motivated me the most because in different situations that most females come cross it makes me (can't speak for everyone else)think about this sacred poem that Ms. Angelou wrote. Thank you for making me the highly motivated person that I am today, and I would like to receive more of you books.
