But then she learned to read and that led to books about supernatural and paranormal phenomena. The more she read, the more she learned and the more she realized how little she knew. This realization has led to a lifelong search for knowledge, truth and enlightenment. From the age of eight she began to write the stories streaming like movies through her mind.

Deborah Hughes was a normal kid living a normal life when she moved into a haunted house at the age of seven. Suddenly she was sharing space with dead people and experiencing the bizarre world of the unknown and the uncanny. An over-active imagination did not, at first, serve her well for she feared what she did not understand. Learning to read opened her to the world of books and she read everything she could find about supernatural and paranormal phenomena. The more she read, the more she learned and the more she realized how little she knew. This has led to a lifelong search for knowledge, truth and enlightenment. Constantly inspired to write, from the age of eight she began telling the stories streaming like movies through her mind. Although determined to grow up and become a writer, her sense of adventure led to a career in the United States Air Force. Despite a busy and demanding life, Deborah continued writing the stories that came to her in flashes of inspiration and her quest for knowledge continued. Her military career now behind her, she is focused on her lifelong dream of being an author and sharing the stories she’s been so compelled to write. This novel has a compelling and suspenseful plot, and the writer has a nice feel for location and region. This should develop into a strong series anchored by a protagonist with a provocative gift.

While reading this book, I was hooked. The story draws you in and makes you feel as if you are there. The characters and storyline are well written. This is a book for romance, paranormal and mystery lovers alike. Even if you have never read a paranormal or ghost story, I strongly recommend you give this book a try. You will not regret it!!

I was hooked from page one. This book is very Gothic. Very mysterious. Very intriguing. Will Tess ever reconnect with her dead husband? What restless spirits haunt the Maine resort? I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys a good Gothic romance, a spooky read, well-developed suspense, sympathetic characters, and a satisfying resolution. Can't wait for Deborah Hughes' next book.

Despite her busy life and demanding career, Deborah continued to write the stories her characters insisted must be written and she continued her quest for knowledge.
