About the Author

Justin Leeper has been writing and fighting most of his life. It was only natural to write a book with fighting in it - which he did in his first novel, Still Man Fights, available on this very site. Justin is a long-time martial artist who has studied taekwondo, kali, Hong Kong styles, and most every weapon. He's worked for the heavy metal band, GWAR -- they of the massive monstrous costumes and on-stage bludgeonings. He's reviewed video games for outlets such as Game Informer Magazine, Yahoo, and G4 TV. He's worn tights while grappling as a pro wrestler -- using personas Helmut Von Strauss and Justin "Violent" Lee. He's starred in, choreographed, and directed fight scenes for stage and film. He's written narrative for three sequential, successful WWE video games. And now he's a novelist. Hopefully, this job will stick. Justin lives in Los Angeles, CA with his perfect match, Kate.

Still Man Fights is a book filled with everything I didn't know I wanted, but loved in the end. At first I was skeptical as I do not consider myself an avid fan of wrestling or fighting, and the authors background is riddled with experience in that area. Considering this, it goes to reason that his book would include a fair number of fighting sequences, and be based on fighting. What I found in addition to this was an fun to read, coherent, and cohesive story with a mix of action/fighting sequences and science fiction.

The books was easy and fun to read, as the book seamlessly intertwined the different character's stories. The writing was well paced and eloquent. Brief and blunt when needed; full of description when necessary. I loved the repetition of some passages, especially one in particular showing comparison to Idle and (SPOILER) Seahorse near the end. Truly it was the attention to detail and word choice by the author that helped this book come alive and stand apart from other adventure and action books. With enjoyable characters (both good and evil) I await a sequel further exploring the difficulties facing LJ and Seahorse in their respective destinies.

This is a must read for anyone who enjoys action/adventure and sci-fi books.

This was a very enjoyable read that was hard to put down. I was so engrossed in it, I didn't mind when my bus was stuck in traffic since it meant I could get further in the story on my commute.

This was an action packed story written with such detail you could relate to the characters, and understand their movements and motives. More than once I caught myself imitating the fight sequences. I was impressed by the author's ability to capture the mannerisms, interactions and emotions and of the characters.

I hope a sequel will be out soon, until then I'll gladly re-read Still Man Fights.

I enjoy Westerns. I also enjoy martial arts movies and I like science fiction. This book seemed like a natural for me -- and thankfully, it was!
I read the book a little over a year ago, but I was prompted to write this review now because I just finished Stephen King's "Gunslinger" (the first installment of the "Dark Tower" series. Sadly, as I was disappointed reading "The Gunslinger" and kept thinking about how much more I liked Justin Leeper's "Still Man Fights."
The characters in "Still Man" are compelling, the plot is a classic Western/Martial Arts "lone wolf gets teamed up with someone" story, and the execution achieves the graceful balance between wondering what is going on and wondering what is going to happen next -- with all the pieces coming together through artful reveals of the back story to fill in the gaps.
My one complaint about this book is that there's no sequel!
