Fantastic Song,

Finally we have an official release of this song that captured my attention almost as much as the Mirror's Edge game trailer did a couple months back. This is so worth at least the 99 cents for the original song....the remixes are ok...but the main track is so good and works so well with the game.

It was the version featured in the trailer that caught my attention, and how happy I was to hear that an entire album of mixes was going to be made available along with the game. The Paul van Dyk mix is presented three versions here, as is the original version (no instrumental, sadly) of the theme. The variety left over might be a little lacking but thankfully you don't have to buy the entire album to get the meaty bits.I was surprised to note that unlike my previous experiences with remix albums, most of what's offered here is... actually bearable. Everything sticks towards your typical house/dance/whatever you wish to call it style without completely disassembling the original melodies too much so there's never no question as to what exactly it is you are listening to. Some may find it boring, and again that might have something to do with there only really being 6 different songs. Several tracks have been condensed into radio edits for those with less patience with dance music. Personal Recommendations: * Track 8: Still Alive (Paul van Dyk Mix) * Track 9: Still Alive (The Theme from Mirror's Edge) * Track 5: Still Alive (Benny Benassi Mix) Least Favorite: * Track 4: Still Alive (Armand Van Helden Mix) - sounds astoundingly unprofessional to me, like something you'd pull out of MTV's Music Generator game from the PS2.

Mirror's Edge Inspirited,
By Laughing Wolf (California, USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Still Alive (The Theme From Mirror's Edge)- The Remixes (North American Version) (MP3 Download)
I absolutely love this song and the game that spawned it. Every time I play the game, I want to listen to this song the entire next day and every time I listen to the song, I want to play the game. Obviously, I have to work and eat and sleep, so this cycle breaks off at some point, but that is the purest form of synergy I can imagine for a game/music combination. Each draws off the amazing spirit of the other to fuse one beautiful whole.Sinking from my euphoric cloud to write a more coherent review... I've heard (and purchased) Lisa Miskovsky's other music and, although she does have a beautiful voice and lovely tunes, in no other piece that I've heard has she captured my interest so completely. This song (the original) sends me flying through the sky with an uplifting chorus, then I'm freefalling on an angelic piano break. I can only hope that Lisa continues making music and that she turns her considerable talent toward producing more tracks like this.
