I would suggest reading the first book in this series, Long Lonely Nights, so you can learn about the characters, you will definately be able to follow this book better. I was hoping that Ms. Monroe was going to make a sequel to the first story and I was not dissapointed at all.
The book starts out running, and does not stop until the last page.
The story is based on the past abusive relationships of Jenna and how Riely, the motorcycle "bad boy" comes to her rescue. He thinks he is too rough to be with a woman as fragile as Jenna, but will soon see that he is the right man for her. After he decides to leaves, which brought me to tears, some unexpected news is presented to him when he finally returns.
Read this great book to see what happens. This story keeps Tina and Logan involved throughout, along with others from the first book. I hope Ms. Monroe writes a book about Morgan and what has happened to him and give him a happy ending too.

Book 2 "The Protectors".

Plot:
Jenna is being stalked by her abusive ex-partner. Riley will keep her safe. But once that nightmare is over, will Riley and Jenna be able to find a HEA, or will their pasts and their honour keep them apart?

Comments:
- Contemporary erotic romance with mild suspense.
- 6662 kindle locations, 80,470 words
- m/f - somewhat Alpha including erotic spanking, explicit, reasonably frequent.
- We first met Jenna and Riley in Book1 Long, Lonely Nights. Then we learnt Jenna has an abusive ex-husband, and two abusive ex-boyfriends, the latest of which, Todd, she took a restraining order out against. Book2 picks up basically as Book1 ends: Riley is taking Jenna to collect her car from his motel, where they've been hiding it.
- My e-version could have done with tighter editing and proofreading. *shrug* Not unusual for the genre, nor the publisher, but still... it irritates.

Opinion ***SPOILERS***:
Another good story from Monroe with a very relationship-driven plot coupled with mild suspense and plenty of explicit sex. It's good. It holds the reader and is sufficiently unpredictable to keep you going. The violence against Jenna is well written and believable, as is her response to it, and the reactions of the people around her. She's strong and independent and knows what she wants and is willing to fight for it. But she also asks for and accepts help when needed, and struggles with the personal destruction brought on by domestic abuse. I like her. And I like Riley. But there's a niggling part of me which wonders if they will get a HEA.
