One of her very best,
By A Customer
This review is from: Still on the Road (Audio CD)
This ranks among one of my favorite cd's by Rosemary Clooney. Never tired of hearing it. Each song is sublime, from "On The Road Again" to "Let's Get Away From It All" to her own version of Paul Simon's "Still Crazy After All These Years". Rosie is still swingin' after all these years!

"Still On The Road" a hidden gem,

This review is from: Still on the Road (Audio CD)
In the vast recorded legacy left for us by the late, great Rosemary Clooney, "Still On The Road" may not be among the most well known album, but it is a gem, showing all the class that she brought to all her endeavors. Front and center is that crystal clear diction and soothing voice for which Rosie was so well loved and respected throughout her career. For added fun, there is a whimsical guest appearance by Jack Sheldon on "Road To Morocco," from the first Bob Hope-Bing Crosby "road picture." The big surprise here, however, is the title cut, "Still On The Road," written by Earl Brown and Bill Mumy (could this be the SAME Bill Mumy who played Will Robinson on "Lost In Space?"). As a long time traveling musician myself, I find the melody haunting, and the lyrics EXTREMELY identifiable. Wrap up the whole package with superb arrangements (mostly by Rosie's musical director John Oddo) and a sparkling all-star West Coast big band (special kudos to the late Tommy Newsom and the late Chauncey Welsch), and, ladies and gentlemen, we have a winner! Highly recommended!

Caproni's Restaurant,

This review is from: Still on the Road (Audio CD)
I was ripping this great CD to put on my Squeezeserver and noticed in the illustration on the CD cover a sign which reads Caproni's Restaurant. Just for the heck of it, I Googled the name and surprisigly, the restaurant actually does exist. And more surprising, it's on 320 Rosemary Clooney Street in Maysville Kentucky!! Her home town. What a nice thing to discover about a great disc.
