I recently bought a smoker for my husband as a father's day gift and could not find any recepies in regular cookbooks. So, after having to choose out of a pretty wide variety at Amazon, I picked this one. Although I prefer cookbooks with pictures, this book is clear, simple, without outrageous ingredients you can't find at any store. The ribs were delicious and we'll be using it again very soon.

This book has recipes for things one might not ordinarily think to smoke, along with some more typical fare. Great addition to any BBQ/smoked food book collection. The company's cookers are the best on the market, and they don't waste your time with weak recipes.

While I do not have a Cookshack smoker (have a Brinkman), the recipes in this book are wonderful. Love the salmon ones.

After receiving the book, I was a little skeptical as to how 150+ recipes could all be good, surely there had to be a couple of disasters waiting, however, after following recipes for "Smoky Sweet Beef Kebabs, Apple Smoked Pork Chops and others, we were thrilled with the results. I'd recommend this book for anyone starting to smoke foods. 4 stars.....

It's an OK book, but will SOMEONE please write a cook book where I can go to ANY STORE and purchase the INGREDIENTS easily? These whacko things like " 1 cup powdered dextrose" , 3 tablespoons of PRAGUE POWDER #1, OR 3 Tablespoons COOKSHACK RIB AND SPICY CHICKEN RUB, 1 cup Tortuga Citrus Honey??? are examples from 3 of their recipes for Ribs. Come one people. Most of the book's recipes are OK.....but I was looking for Rib recipes and when I started reading about these strange ingredients, I got disgusted.

There is not much in here you can't get for free on the internet. What I really object to though is that there are recipes that effectively say "buy our rub and put it on the meat". Not what I was hoping for.

I bought this for my husband and he absolutely loves it! The recipes we have tried have been wonderful. Has a large assortment of different types of meats and foods to smoke. Almost all of the ingredients that are used are common and easy to find.

This cookbook mainly has recipes for the entire book. There is an appendix towards the back of the book that gives you a few pointer to smoking. That section should have been in the front of the book for people new to smoking. I did find a good recipe that I will always use for smoking pork butt. However, I used a recipe making smoked rib and it called for some mighty chili spices which we could barely eat. So a precaution to you, if you don't like very spicy food, you might want to skip the chili powder to avoid having some food that you cannot eat. So this cook cook like I said is good for recipes and I haven't tried more than two of them yet. If you are looking for an instructional book on smoking, I find the book, "Mastering the Craft of Smoking food" by Warren R. Anderson a good book for details on smoking and the history. While there is some items in the book as building your own smoker, the book is really good to give those an overview of smoking, as well as some recipes.
