Inapprpriate Role Model for Young Women,
By Musicgal (USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attacks (Hardcover)
As a professional working with young women I have to say that this woman is an inappropriate role model for young women no matter how you look at her story. Her book is an example of what not to do to gain respect. Her lack of self awareness and her inability to understand her own manipulative nature clearly suggests a young woman with a disturbing point of view about life and its fairness or lack thereof. Ms. Prejean is 22 years old, has made serious errors in judgment and has yet to do anything at all to be proud of. I would rather she live her life, do something with it and then write a memoir about what she has learned. Rather we see a woman who has very little life experience who has used her body and her sexuality to get where she is today and is now claiming to be pure and Christian. Walk the walk Carrie, then tell us what you have learned. So far you have done nothing but take off your clothes and arouse yourself and your boyfriend while taping it and then not being truthful when participating in of all things, a beauty pageant. Holy Moly girl! What were you thinking and why should anyone consider you a role model? I don't get it.
The book itself is an empty attempt at self glorification with absolutely no real value. It is simply a rip off of consumer's money and a girl's attempt to hold on to another few minutes of false fame.

Amazingly Bad,

I wasn't expecting much from this book and I was not disappointed. Although it is obvious from her interviews that Carrie does not have enough command of the English language to write a book, one would have thought her publisher would have hired a more eloquent ghost writer. This is the most self serving, blame it on everyone else tome I have ever read. A friend purchased this for me as a gag gift and I felt like gagging after reading it. Sorry Amazon, but wait till this ends up in the Dollar Store before purchasing it. It should be there in about 3 months.

Poorly articulated, weak read,

The liberal bias that Carrie sets out to write about is certainly a valid issue for which a strong argument can be made, unfortunately Carrie fails to do that. Instead the book reads like a juvenile gripe that was sometimes uncomfortably embarrassing when the reader knows this is coming from a grown woman. Poorly articulated arguments, filled with hypocrisy (Carrie's conservative values apply to everyone else buy herself). Plus a lack of grace under fire- Carrie is unable to take a critical look on herself instead focuses on putting down everyone who she does not agree with. I wish this was a more though provoking book but instead Carrie Prejean's incoherent fragments of ideas are just a boring read.

I honestly wanted to give this book a try
However before I paid $15 for an ebook in Kindle (which I think is too much for any ebook) I ordered the "sample" Boy am I glad I did. The writing and style was horrible. I felt like I was reading something from a high school essay. Don't waste you money on this right now. Wait a month or so and Kindle will have it for 5.99 at most

Not a particularlly well written book. It really does feel like she walks into situations and then claims to be a victim. I think her 15 minutes are about up.

After reading a bit of this book and watching her on larry king, i have come to the conclusion that we as a society are attracted to really superficial fluff. All she is, is a beautiful face with absolutely no substance.
There is NOTHING christian about her. A rather boring read, something you can pick up when u have absolutely nothing else to read. Truly pathetic!

Really?
This poor girl. She has been so abused by the imaginary liberal media. She is just another hypocritical member of the American Taliban. She wants us all to live by the "rules" of her imaginary friend. But she gives herself a pass as she breaks those rules. This book is poorly written and will only be of interest to other religious fanatics. Im sure you will be able to get it for free from rightwing sites as you can Palins book.

A Lovely Edition To Anyone's Fireplace!,
By Patrick The Unsaved (Santa Clarita, California USA) - See all my reviews
This review is from: Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attacks (Hardcover)
The title says "...My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attacks", it must be such a tremendous burden fighting against all the things that she so resoundingly stands for. And I just love the mention of "Gossip", as if to imply everything said about her in the press was made up. I'm sorry, but were those pics of her flashing her milk jugs on TMZ made up gossip? Who am I gonna believe, SCarrie or my lying eyes? This homophobic little thing brings right-wing conservative hypocrisy to a whole new level. It will make a lovely edition to anyone's fireplace.

EVERY Christian family should buy this book for their young daughters!,
By
This review is from: Still Standing: The Untold Story of My Fight Against Gossip, Hate, and Political Attacks (Hardcover)
Oh, I am SO happy this wonderful book is out!!! Prejean has received the full support of many Conservative interest groups, media outlets like FOX News, successful conservative businessmen like Donald Trump, and right wing Christian organizations such as the 700 Club, where Pat Robertson himself defended her honor on his show!
And now, FINALLY, Christian families have a handbook for their daughters to teach them how the bible supports young women competing in bathing suits, wearing lots of makeup, dying their hair blond, and getting breast implants to win beauty pageants! With the release of this groundbreaking achievement in American Christian Literature, hopefully beauty pageants across the nation will get a whole new influx of quality blond beautiful Christian women and give the pageants an uplifting appearance that America can be proud of! Unfortunately, this Christian success story was published before Miss Prejean's adult entertainment film debut hit the market, which is currently a work in progress at Vivid Entertainment. If this artistic Christian video is as economically successful as I predict, then perhaps this next crowning achievement in her career will be shared with America's daughters in a second edition of this book. But for now, we'll just have to settle for piecemeal examples from the life of this outstanding role model of conservative Christian values and pray to the Lord for a future expanded second edition of "Still Standing" to help guide America's Christian daughters into the 21st century. Finally, as a Christian soldier myself, I believe it is my duty to pay a visit to all the local Christian churches in my area to persuade them to take up an extra collection on Sunday to purchase enough copies of this book for every Christian daughter in their congregation. I believe that once all the young girls read this spiritually uplifting book, they too will look to Miss Prejean as their ideal role model and begin to enhance their lives with makeup, hair color, and breast implants. Then the churches can reinforce this behavior with their own local bikini swimsuit competitions, all of which should attract an increasing male congregation, bringing in yet more revenues to the church, followed by more marriages, more babies, and so on and so on and so on... THANK YOU Miss Prejean for providing America's young Christian girls with a role model we can all be proud of, a book to guide them, and hopefully in the near future, a copy of your video on how a Christian woman can give the gift of love to that special man in their lives. |
