Gahan Wilson's best work,
By
This review is from: Gahan Wilson's Still Weird (Hardcover)
Some people compare Gahan Wilson to Gary Larson. Well Wilson was making these kinds of cartoons before Gary Larson ever got published. The over-the-top, sadistic humor is similar but Wilson is smarter and his drawings are much more distinctive.
This book contains many reprints of his earlier classic cartoons, which were first published in Playboy Magazine and later assembled in a volume called PLAYBOY'S GAHAN WILSON. These are still gut-bustingly funny. My favorite is the cartoon of an eye-doctor getting ready to stab a patient in the back as the patient reads the eye-chart, whose letters spell out a warning to the patient. Anyone who likes off-color humor, any adult who wants to remember what an adolescent outlook is like, should have this book.
