Money Hungry Heifers,
By
This review is from: Still Wifey Material (Wifey, Part 4) (Paperback)
I just finished "Still Wifey Material". Surprisingly, I enjoyed reading this book. Mainly due to its fast pace (I completed it in 24 hours).
I can recall reading "Wifey" many years ago thinking "damn, that Kira is pretty dumb". Sadly, I completed "Still Wifey Material" thinking, "Kira truly IS dumb". How can an individual, escape death on numerous occasions and continue to make the same mistakes repeatedly? Following her "disappearance" and now living in Houston, Kira is sitting on a hefty stash. She's driving a brand new car and operating a successful hair salon. What more could this airhead want? Clearly not content that she's living a comfortable life, Kira is still in pursuit of that almighty dollar. When will she ever learn? Just when I thought, there was no individual more delusional than Kira, her juvenile cousin, Nikki steps up to the plate. Nikki currently blames Kira for introducing her to the "life". She will do the unthinkable to attain more "success" than Kira when she propositions Kira's wealthy fiancé, Fatu. Unbeknownst to Nikki, she receives exactly what she deserves after she hooks up with Fatu. He's a manipulative, treacherous psychopath. As far as absurdity, imagine Kira bumping into Francis in the Caribbean. What's hilarious is that she's still livid with Kira. As usual, Kira taunts Francis and a boxing match is swiftly approaching. Francis really needs to get over it. Ricky didn't give a hoot about neither of them. I don't know whether to smack or embrace these shallow women. Also, when have these heifers ever been "wifey" material? Hell, when were any of their husbands, boyfriends or lovers WORTHY of "wifey" material. They are all dishonest, greedy and trifling. I'm presenting "Still Wifey Material" with three stars. In general, it's not an awesome read but it tickled me nonetheless. I will definitely read the next installment. I will need to witness how the series plays out.

Ok... Kiki what happened? I was happy with the ending of the last book. Can you please let Kira go and write something new. I finished this book in like 1 day. The characters Nikki and Kira are a trip. There really isn't much to say about Fatu, there isn't enough information given plus he's stereotyped in the book pretty badly. What happened to him sweeping her off her feet. As I recall she didn't even like him. Also, Why is it never mentioned that he wears traditional clothing, he only wears designer brand?? First of all why doesn't Kira spend time with her soon to be in-laws? I myself am married to a Nigerian man and he isn't controlling and I love his mother. She treats me like I'm her own daughter. (He also wears traditional clothing and speaks in his native tongue.) Second, What the hell is Ricky's baby mama Francis doing resurfacing at the end. We really didn't need her back and Kira's move to a new country was a perfect ending to a horrible 4th part book.

Enough is Enough,

Still Wifey 4 holds your attention because you can't believe how dumb these women are and you keep reading hoping they will somehow redeem themselves. Even though Kira and Nikki are both somewhat wealthy they are still looking for men to take care of them. To me they are the epitome of stupid, money seeking tricks who just want to leech off a man, preferably a drug dealer. Kira and Nikki both are portrayed as weak and stupid. You wonder if they will ever grow up or if they will ever learn. One thing for sure, you pray that the people who are reading this story will learn that all that glitters ain't gold, and all that dirty money comes with too many problems. Wifey should grow up and act like a real woman and stop playing these childish games.
Come on Kiki give us another storyline.

I loved the whole wifey series Kiki swinson is one of my favorite next to Trista Russell And K.C. Marshall, she continued to deliver in still wifey and it just so happened she had 2 of my favorite places written in this story. Nice! Worked well for a true fan. I suggest for all who are considering this read to begin with Wifey, I'm Still Wifey, and Life after Wifey first.

Are by the time you get to the 3rd and 4th installments, some charater development is going to either to lost, forced or off. That's what happened with the character of Nikki.
SPOILER ALERT: Since when did Nikki have the stomache to not only be involved in raping and killing of women, but to film it as well. Then if she wanted to be with Futu with knowledge and videotape, wouldn't she have been in a postion to force Futu to marry her and not Kira. The next thing that didn't make any sense was if they had all this money, why was landing a millionaire or balla or whatever still so important to them. I got the concept of staying accustom to the lifestyle you are use to, got it, but how you will to marry someone so quickly (3 months) and you know nothing about them. Just for money when you have money, I mean you have enough to really take your time getting to know them. Just stupid. I would have been willing to give this book a higher rating if it had been two new characters, who were on the come up and got caught up in all this drama. This was not the Kira and Nikki we "knew" from Wifey, Still Wifey and Life after Wifey. Minor complaints: No love making. No character growth for Kira. Final Questions: What was the point of this book? What did you or the character learn? What was the growth development for Kira?

She Must Have 9 Lives....,

APOOO Rating: 1 star
Amazon Rating: 1 star Kira is back. After leaving the Witness Protection Program, she gets the news that Quincy; her old boyfriend, Rhonda; her business partner, Sunshine: her arch enemy, and her grandmother were all murdered. Kira and her cousin, Nikki, move to Houston for a fresh start. She quickly learns, that no matter where you may run, there is bound to be danger lurking. When Nikki urges her to go out to the club, there she meets Fatu and after three months of dating he asks her to marry him. As she plans for her wedding, she begins to realize that things are not the way they seem to be. Nikki, being the competitive person that she is, is angry that Kira is once again on top. She feels like since she saw Fatu first, he should be hers, not Kira's. She is determined to make sure that the wedding between Kira and Fatu never happens and she will do anything to stop it. In my opinion, this is the worst book in the Wifey series. Throughout the whole book Kira and Nikki are constantly bickering with each other. While reading, I could not help but think this was on a junior high school level. Nikki was so dumb and naive it was annoying. There were major gaps within the story-an example: when Kira dated Fatu, there was no mention of the romance that she had with him; it went from meeting Fatu and then three months later they were engaged. I felt the book was entirely too predictable: example--Nikki was talking on the phone with some guy she just met and she was telling him that the shop made a lot of money that day and within seconds from hanging up the phone the shop was robbed. Now it does not take a genius to realize who robbed them but apparently it took a minute before Nikki figured it out. The other thing that bothered me was Fatu's character; his big secret was totally unbelievable. I just felt that Ms.Swinson should have put more thought into the storyline and characters, and left the WIFEY series alone. Unfortunately, she left the book open for yet another book. Raw: An Erotic Street Tale
I almost didn't read this book because the only other book I read in the series was the first book, Wifey. I'm glad I took the chance and went ahead and bought it, because it was a good read, with enough back matter that I was caught up in just a few chapters. That damn cousin, Nikki, though! Wasn't she shady? But still, looking back I could see the beginning of her jealousy all the way back in Wifey - which makes me say that Miss Swanson has done job as far as character development. The characters were consistent from one book in the series to another. Raw: An Erotic Street Tale Prey For Love

I hope this is the end for the Wifey series,

I enjoyed the first and second book of the Wifey series.By the time I read the third installment it was just okay.I just finished Still Wifey Material and honestly I dont think there was a purpose in creating it.Authors get so carried away with these sequels, stretching it when they should leave it alone.Kira has left the Witness Protection Program and her and her cousin Nikki moved to Texas for a new start. We see Nikki's true colors in this book and although the story moved fast, the constant bickering and competition thing between Nikki and Kira was nerve wrecking.I knew Nikki was naive but she took naive to a whole new meaning in this book.Kira meets Fatu but Nikki had her eyes on him first and ends up talking to his brother Bintu.Fatu and Bintu's character should have had more character development.I find it impossible that Kira and Fatu were engaged and no kind of romance was involved. The readers know that Fatu was generous and spent lots of money on Kira. This had the potential to be a good book had it been different characters.Although I enjoy Kiki Swinson's books,I truly hope this is the last of the wifey series.

Disappointed,

I waited to finally read the next addition of this series and I must admit, I was disappointed. It started off slow in my opinion and the story line was a little far fetched to me. In my opinion, it wasn't consistent with the story line from the last three books. I'm hoping the next book will be a little more exciting than this one.

Well, Niki finally got what she deserved. What a backstabbing, hating, sleezebucket. Who needs enemies when you have cousins? Niki's mind was truly twisted in the worst way. I'm nervous for Kira now. Just when you think she's going to be alright a zinger comes out of no where at the end.
"Still Wifey Material" was a good read. Yes, I'm shocked because it received very mixed reviews and the last book in the series has the worst reviews of them all. The plot was abit different than the rest but, I loved the twist. It was a well developed story that took my mind in a different direction and sometimes it is good to get away from the drug, kill, drug, and baby momma drama storyline every now and then. |
