Contagious Listening,
By
This review is from: Still Your Man (Dig) (Audio CD)
I first heard Paul Burch late one night on WSM AM 650 out of Nashville--one of the last stations left that plays country music worthy of the name. I was swept away by the song "Saving All My Saturday Nights", with its rockabilly momentum and sly accordian backbeat. The rest of this album is just as strong, mixing ballads in the tradition of Roy Orbison and the Everly Brothers with edgier contemporary songs like "Down to the Blackmarket" and "Ballad of Henry and Jimmy". It's hard to categorize this sound, with its blend of blues, zydeco, and old-fashioned country crooning, but it stands up to repeated listening. It is just the thing to lift one's spirits on a cold commute in winter or for dancing in the living room when you're too broke to go anywhere.

Burch's Best Yet!,

I own four other Paul Burch albums, and I'd rate this one as the best!
There are flavors of zydeco, bluegrass, blues, but the music doesn't belong to any of those genres--it's original, genuine Burch.

This ia a great listen, I've been looking for some good modern honkey tonk (not the corporate stuff) and this is it. My father (who loves Willie, Jennings, and that type of stuff) actually took this out of my CD player and I'm not sure if I am going to get it back.
