Since I had some crown work I have a food packing pocket between two teeth that needs cleaning out each time I eat something. These are far superior in shape to toothpicks for this and I find them essential to avoid infection. For some they may only be a floss substitute but for others they serve a very different and necessary function. Getting hard to find locally as Walgeen's and local supermarkets no longer seem to carry them.

The Stimudent Plaque Removers are like a high-tech version of dental floss. They're packaged much like a matchbook, so they're easy to slip into your pocket. The cinnamon flavoring is pretty mild, if not undetectable. They are definitely easier and more fun to use than dental floss, but not much classier. You're still going to have to slip off somewhere private to pick your lunch out of your teeth. I don't have braces, but can imagine they would be a lifesaver over dental floss in that situation. The one drawback is that the picks are not terribly strong, and it may take more than one. They are gentle on your gums though. In general I'd recommend this product, especially to someone with braces/orthodontics.

When I first began to use these on the recommendation of my dentist, I didn't think there was a great difference between them and a toothpick. HOWEVER, I have become a firm believer in their beneficial properties. They not only remove food, they stimulate your gum, hence the name "stim-u-dent". That in turn reduces gum bleeding and swelling and may ward off the need for periodontics. They are getting hard to find and I hope the company is not considering discontinuing them. Thanks, Amazon, for being the go-to place for many hard to find items now.

I really didn't see the point of this product. The only use I had for it was as an ordinary toothpick, because it didn't work any better than that. It's misleading to say it's a plaque remover when after brushing your teeth it removes nothing ""extra."" I was disappointed in the product overall.

My husband has used these toothpicks
for many years, but recently I haven't been able to find them in stores. I was pleased to be able to purchase them online. The only difference we noticed was the manufacturer's name, Johnson & Johnson, was missing from those ordered through
Amazon.com.

I'm certainly no expert on dental care, but it would seem to me that the softer wood and the shape of these are much better than an ordinary toothpick for removing food and maybe some plaque from under the gums and between the teeth. I've used them for years and have been having a hard time finding them lately, I hope J&J is not planning on stopping production of these very handy picks. I keep them in my car, at work and at home. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because I can't be absolutely sure if they are removing plaque. I do know that they are great at removing food and they do stimulate the gums.

My dentist gave me these as an alternative to flossing. In fact, they said that using these was far superior to flossing. It airates the gums around your teeth preventing bacteria and plaque. For me, these are much easier and also more pleasant to use than flossing. It is must more than just a toothpick

For me the Johnson & Johnson Stim-U-Dent Plaque Removers are easier to use than Dental Foss. The Johnson & Johnson Stim-U-Dent Plaque Removers that I received from my Dentist were mint flavored. The ones I purchased were not. I like the mint flavored ones better.

It was easy to use, although I felt there should have been more instructions. The pointed end broke in my mouth. I wasn't sure if I was to use only one for an entire mouth or several. I didn't know if I was to do anything along the edges of my teeth. I'd like to know if this is to take the place of flossing. And I'd like to have had a mint flavor or at least a choice. I like the way it's packaged. I don't think I'd especially recommend this product, but I wouldn't have anything negative to say about it.
