4.0 out of 5 stars The finest in goth rock, February 8, 1999
By A Customer
Stimulation Festival is more accessible than the group's earlier work (if you can find it) but no less scary. They are masters at phantasmagoric landscapes of effects, samples and electronic noodling. But they also have a sense of cultural appreciation, melody and they also know how to rock. The viscous mix of gloom, noise and power chords makes perfect accompaniment to a halloween metal party or as background music for fetish night at the local s&m parlor's dungeon room. Compared to the Pain Teens, Marilyn Manson is a crude punk.

5.0 out of 5 stars most amazing by painteens, June 28, 2009
Stimulation Festival is by yet the very best album by Pain Teens. Growing up in Houston, T.x., i used to go see them play live at one of the local clubs. This is an amazing group. Slowly dark, but yet inviting a grey unknown place to hide behind speaker cabinets. This modern grown stage up of ghostly puppets plays it best. This album will never expire.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great CD by a great group, August 23, 2006
By Earl A. Foltz "More noise, please" (Terre Haute, Indiana United States) - See all my reviews
(REAL NAME)
This is an EXCELLENT CD by an excellent band, especially if you are into such noisy, free-form punk as the Butthole Surfers or Crust. The band features the stunningly beautiful Bliss Blood on vocals, and they even do a great cover of Nick Cave and the Birthday Party's "Wild World" on this CD. It is one of my favorite noise platters. My only complaint is that EVERY copy of this CD that I have gotten plays fine only a few times, and then it suddenly starts skipping terribly for whatever reason. There is no visible damage to the CD. My computer player won't even read it, and says the CD is damaged or defective. Perhaps there was some sort of manufacturing defect with the CDs, and I should try to track down the LP instead. Maybe the CD should come with a warning that says "this CD will self-destruct after playing" or something.
