5.0 out of 5 stars Great CD, December 15, 2010
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
My husband had a free CD 17 future classics and I trawled through them as you sometimes do, and sometimes don't (quite a few of these freebies languish in our CD collection having never been played) and 78 Stimulator came on and on the strength of that one track, I bought the CD. I wasn't disappointed. I think Beautiful Muse and Just Like a Girl are probably my favourites of all of them but all the other tracks are really good, it sounds different and fresh. It's one of those CDs that I will never tire of.

5.0 out of 5 stars Absolutely perfect, June 9, 2006
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
Stimulator offers a perfect update of 80s sound that doesn't pander to the audience or insert tongue-in-cheek humor to a retro sound. The band is straight-up serious about their debt to new wave, funk, and disco and pays homage to those genres instead of joking about it. It's a good thing I don't have room-mates or they would hate me for how often I play this CD. I really hope Stimulator isn't a one-shot band. I'd love to see a follow-up effort--and soon.

5.0 out of 5 stars better than a go go, April 3, 2006
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
I saw them on Friday night opening for the GoGo's. They were way better than the headlining band. They were so good I immediately bought their cd downa the concession and had them all sign it. The Clearwater Ruth Eckerd Hall had absolutely perfect acoustics. The band was awesome. The bassist was even trying out his new martin guitar. For me the song how far would you go has an absolutely infectious bass line. It can be currently heard throughout my neighborhood cranked to the threshold of pain from my living room. Go buy at least 10 copies and send them to all your friends.

5.0 out of 5 stars Sassy, sexy, sultry, January 31, 2006
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
Finally a band that is innovative and can stay true to their own image! Stimulator is a breath of fresh air in music...their look, their feel, their sound has been long awaited! From the seductive "My Beautiful Muse" to the retro feel of "Magic" --everything just flows!

I too saw them the first time opening for Duran Duran and was captivated by them. It is now time to see them on the big stage alone!

5.0 out of 5 stars Stimulating stuff..., December 12, 2005
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
I also caught Stimulator opening for Duran Duran in Memphis,TN. My friend and I had a typical first reaction when being faced with an unknown band as an opener: polite applause, followed by the "will they PLEASE hurry up and finish" bit. It took all of two songs to get past THAT. This band kicks A** (not sure how Amazon feels about mild profanity, but you get my point). I personally enjoyed seeing a truly talented woman OUT FRONT, not writhing around a pole in a miniskirt for the titillation of the male part of the audience while the "real" (i.e. MALE) musicians did their thing. At intermission, we both ran for the vendors so we could get a CD and have it autographed (yep, they were out there mixing with their new fans). They are as good live as as on CD (unlike some bands). I know sometimes it's tough to branch out and buy music from an unfamiliar band, but this one is WORTH IT!

I just saw this band open for Duran Duran twice and they are awesome! Picked up their CD as well and they do not disappoint. I've also had a chance to meet the band and party with them and they are extremely nice people. Their music is fantastic, they're one of those bands that is great both in the studio as well as live. Definitely pick up this CD, it's worth it!!

The media is clueless! The radio stations are clueless!Continually looking in stupid and now utterly overused and burnt out sound sample r&b music for music to be played on radio and video ;the media has not a clue .STIMULATORBAND'S Geoff Tyson is a brilliant musician aas well as a studio producer .The rap and r&b scene is like enron stock and disco. Its inflated and do for a crash .All we need is for truly great tunes to make it through the (...) and get air play .Accousticly dynamic as well as compositionally dynamic and great vocals and lyrics STIMULATORBAND delivers a great cd .

5.0 out of 5 stars This CD is Magic, May 23, 2004

Believe it or not, I first heard this band while watching Ella Enchanted and I have to say that 'Magic' was the best song on the entire album. It's great to see someone taking disco and funk music and modernizing it by adding some good ol' base guitar.

I recommend this for everyone.

5.0 out of 5 stars Can't Stop Listening to this CD!, May 21, 2004
By
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
This is probably one of the most rockin' CD's I've ever owned. In my opinion there are at least 5-6 hits on here that should be on the radio fulltime. My personal favorite "driving" song is "Feeling Alright". Susan Hyatt's voice is very strong and dynamic and the musicianship, songwriting, and production on this CD is top notch. Do yourself a favor and buy this CD.

5.0 out of 5 stars Serious fun!, May 19, 2004
By A Customer
This review is from: Stimulator (Audio CD)
This is one of those albums that you find yourself humming the tunes to after one spin through the CD player. The lyrics are fun (although I wouldn't classify them as deep) and Susan Hyatt and company provide the perfect escape from the daily grind. Make sure you check out the video of "On Top of the World" contained on the music disc! This is a total blast!
