Dark, tense music,
By A Customer
This review is from: Stir of Echoes (1999 Film) (Audio CD)
I originally heard the Gob song in the trailer, and I was pleasantly surprised that the song was also in the movie _and_ on the soundtrack. Often on soundtracks(like Disturbing Behavior's), we get cheated out of the really good songs and get stuck with filler material. Not the case with this one. The music was perfect for the movie's dark, chaotic tone. Highly recommended.

Gob's "Paint It Black" is incredible!!!,

Thanks to the Stones, Gob did there own version of Paint It Black. I saw the preview of Stir of Echoes with it playing in the background. I went to see a movie the next day just to see the preview with the song again. I don't know about the other songs, but Gob's is a masterpiece.

If you liked the movie, buy the soundtrack.,

The movie was more than good. It was unfortunate that it came out after Sixth Sense, and therefore, appears that it is just a spin off. Don't bother comparing the two films. All the instrumental music is awesome. It gets the adrenaline flowing, to say the least. The best songs are "Paint it Black", of course, and the Poe song "Hello". I wouldn't expect Beth Orton to have a song put on this soundtrack, but its well worth it as well. Check out the movie with an open mind, buy the soundtrack and play it with the lights off.

Good movie, good soundtrack,

Like all soundtracks, you get the good with the bad. More good than bad on this CD; I believe Beth Orton singing "It's not the spotlight" justifies the cost, the rest of the songs are a bonus.

great mood ambience,

Hard hitting tracks - Gob especially - and deeply moody ambience. Two versions of Paint it Black were done and only one included on this CD - the Stones original is covered closely by Gob on the other but you'll have to rent the movie to hear it.

Hauntig Score, the rest is OK,

If "Unbreakeable" is the sister score of "The Sixth Sense," by James Newton Howard, then "Stir Of Echoes" is the cousin that nobody talks about. The score in the song/score album is simply brill. The same uneasyness that is in the above mentioned scores is present in this score. The main theme is simple a creepy. The "Kidnapping Jake" cue is great, pulsating fun. The songs are OK, but I wish that the score and songs were on two seperate album, which is why I gave the album a 4 instead of 5. One last thing; I wish that they would have added the childs vocals of "Paint It Black" (as herd at the begging of the film) on the album as an extra.

Where are the Stones?,

I was severely disappointed in the soundtrack when I came to find out the Rolling Stones' Paint it Black (which was on both the preview AND in the movie) was replaced by this Gob garbage! Really disappointed

Such a great sound track,

The movie was cool to, and I like Poe and Beth Orton and the wild strawberries. I also wanted to mention that "Paint it Black" is by the Rolling Stones, even if Gob covered it on this sound track.

Music CD's are supposed to have music on them. What happened here? There are 15 tracks on this disc, 7 are actual songs......7! Of that seven, the only songs even worth listening to for more than a minutes are "Breathe" by Moist, and Gob's "Paint It Black". The rest of the disc is filled with "spooky" sound effects from the film. What am I listening to here? More like a sound FX disc for halloween. The film was great but this soundtrack was in need of much more beef instead of all the bi-product that you get. All I recommend is Aspirin. Don't buy this one, instead go see the movie two more times.
