I enjoy the Knitting Pattern-a-Day calendars, even though if you're online any amount of time perusing knitting websites you've probably seen many of the often-freebie patterns before (but it is always nice to have them printed in a smaller format), so I took a chance on this calendar, since it happened to be 75% off retail price at the mall.

Boy, was I disappointed! No index to the few patterns (approximately 1 per week, and quite a few of those were socks) and the tips, while useful, had cute titles that rendered them annoying as far as ease of use. As far as the descriptions of the often novelty yarns, well, that's nice advertising for the yarn seller, but we all know how fast these yarns come and go, and good patterns need to be useful beyond the current novelty yarn. As far as writing about other S 'n B groups, this was a repetitive waste of space.

Bottom line, only about a third of this calendar is useful, and that's if you include all of the patterns (which may or may not be to your liking) and the tips. The rest of this calendar is very expensive scratch paper.

The Knitting Pattern-a-Day calendars are a much better value for money. Many, many more patterns (though several go over two days) with greater variety, an index to the patterns so you can find them again, cards with a monthly calendar below so that you can list important dates and/or projects for that month, and the box is constructed better.

The 2008 calendar has a plethora of information similar to 2007, however there has been a few changes made such as:
*Wednesday is now SNB Profiles
*Thursday is now School Day, History and Facts
*Weekends are now miscellaneas (2007 was a quote on the weekend)
Another new addition is the Sock of the month pattern. The calendar holder is sturdier and rather than tearing off the page, it can be placed to the back of calendar. My only complaint is that web sightings no longer has a day. If you enjoyed 2007, than this is a must-have for you!

I received this desk calendar as an early Christmas gift yesterday. I have only looked through May and already love it!

It's packed with all sorts of information about yarns and the creatures who grow them. Knitting hints and techniques and of course, patterns. The pages are loose so it's easy to slip a page into a knitting bag.

A great thing to give and/or receive for a knitter of any experience. I've been knitting for 44 years and have learned things I didn't know!

I bought this calendar because the store was sold out of the Italian Phrase-A-Day calendar that I really wanted. I didn't have high expectations, but I love to knit so I was willing to give it a chance. Primarily, I wanted a calendar to help me remember what day it was. And the calendars were all marked down to half price. All in all, I found this to contain pretty elementary information for a knitter who has been knitting as long as I have. A lot of the facts were not new to me. I didn't care for the S&B group profiles and they just seemed an advertisement for S&B. And the featured yarns seemed likewise to promote the yarn companies. Many of the pages could be put to use as great scrap paper, so I felt I was getting my money's worth by recycling! I have held on to only a few of the patterns which I think I might make. I probably won't buy this calendar next year---can't imagine how they could make it better to hold my interest. But it is turning out to be okay for a year of light knitting topics.

I live in Europe. I ordered this calendar because the reviews of the Stitch 'n Bitch Page-A-Day calendars of previous years were so positive.
I was very disappointed to find out that one page of every week was dedicated to yet another SNB group, this type of information could as well be included in a Stitch 'n Bitch website as it has no value to a knitter. The same applies to the yarn - by the time the calendar is out, the new yarns are no longer new yarns. Besides, many of them cannot be found in Europe and the postage to European countries when ordering from the US is simply forbidding.
I wish that the information on the calendar had been a bit more detailed - it is a great calendar for the US but not so much for Europe.

I received this for Christmas since I like to have a page-a-day calendar on my desk at work. I must say that I was/am excited to have a knitting calendar however I don't think this one is any better than any of the other (non-knitting) desktop calendars I've owned. They're all kind of mediocre, I suppose I'll be searching for the perfect one until I die.

Anyway. Not having high expectations I think this one is alright. A lot of the information is useless (to me) like about the Stitch 'n Bitch groups and advertising different yarn sellers but I do like the patterns, even if they are mostly socks as someone else said (I don't look ahead, page-a-day all the way). I look at this as just something fun to check every day, not a major source of information.

It does bug me that the sheets are all loose leaf. I'm paranoid this will get knocked off my desk somehow and I'll have over 300 pages scattered about. What's wrong with using glue?! The plastic stand does hold the pages really well but I'm not sure it's up to the challenge to hold everything together during a fall, especially once a lot of the pages are gone and there's more room.

Next year I'll try a different knitting calendar but if I don't find one I like I would buy this one again.

I purchased this for a friend and she is still excited about it. Patterns for every occasion and for all degrees of difficulty. I shall buy one again next year.

It looks like this will be a fun and entertaining day calendar for the year, and I'm looking forward to turning the page to see what's next (I force myself to never read ahead). I like how they broke it down to give Knitting tips on Tuesday, patterns on Friday, etc. It makes for an entertaining break-up of the knitting week! Fun stuff!!

This is my favorite gift to give all my knitting and non-knitting friends and family this year. Of course it helps that my hand spun yarn was chosen for yarn of the week (Monday, September 1) - But anyone who is the least bit interested in fiber craft and art will find this calendar a real treat! - Full of inspiration, fun facts, fabulous yarns, profiles of knitters and knitting groups around the world, terrific patterns and of course the really, really nice tips!
