Many big fans of the original claim that you shouldn't take one step into going near this one.But big Lilo and Stitch fans should definitely give this one a go.And they could turn out suprised, but this is suprisingly great stuff.Sure it's not as good as the first, but as a film in it's own right, everything here is spot on fantastic once again. The new villian,Dr.Hamsterwheel(Hamsterviel! It is Hamsterviel!!)is the greatest and most hilarious character I have seen in the way of animated gerbil like creations(I AM NOT GERBIL-LIKE,I AM HAMSTER-LIKE!).His accent is fanastic. His voice talent,Jeff Bennett,is fantastic. And his one-liners are incredible!Such as 'I AM IRKED!'at the disappointing sight of Experiment 625(also a new and hilarious character),'YOU THINK YOU'RE SO...PHONE BOOK,PHONE BOOK!!!',where he's starts a threat and discovers that Lilo is higher than he is,and finally,'I WASN'T REALLY GONNA CUT YOU IN HALF,IT WAS A JOKE!DIDN'T JUMBA PUT A FUNNY BONE IN YOU?',after Sparky saves Stitch and Lilo calls for help, then he get scared! It's brilliant!
Also many of the cast have stayed in to do just as well if not better,Daveigh Chase is amazing as Lilo once again,Stitch has a new problem finding his 'cousins',and Jumba and Pleakley are much, much funnier in this one!The only two downfalls are that the Elvis music has been cut short to just one song of his,'Slicin' Sand',which ain't his best, but at least Gareth Gates doesn't destroy another classic like last time, and Aloha,E Komo Mai,which you'll hear over the end credits,or before the start of the TV show,is one of the best songs I've heard in ages.So why is it not featured on the Island Favourites CD?Also this film could be a bit longer,I hate seeing Lilo and Stitch end, especially after only an hour or so,but I've heard rumours of a third film coming soon so keep me posted.
The plot of Stitch The Movie is good but doesn't always match up to it's expectations.First off,you only see 2 new experiments,625 and 221,so the rest of the excitement is left solely to the series. But there's all kinds of twists and turns here as a wonderful new adventure unfolds.
Overall Stitch The Movie may not look like much, but it's just as supremely entertaining as the original Lilo and Stitch, hitting all the right notes again, and keeping us all entertained until we found out the truth about the rumoured third movie.
So now I'm gonna stick this back in my DVD player and go make myself a sandwich!

While still enjoyable, this film lacked much of what made the original "Lilo and Stitch" movie enjoyable for adults as well as children.

The drawing was too simple and the film included very little music at all (especially compared to the first movie). Stitch's mischievious ways were almost totally reformed leaving Stitch more like a blue, six-legged, teddy bear. The sequel carried virtually none of the Hawaiin tradition from the first film. Also, the sequel paid very little attention to Lilo and her sister's family situation.

The sequel is an obvious rush job and an even more obvious segway (sp?) to the upcoming TV cartoon. It has a srong "Pokemon" feel to it ("Gotta catch em all") rather than the feel of the first "Lilo and "Stich" movie.

This movie could have been much better, however Disney chose to totally overkill the idea of Stitch's cousins and left out too much of the original characters' traits.

Wow, this movie was awful. I am a HUGE fan of "Lilo & Stitch" so naturally I bought this movie sight unseen. Looks like Disney is just cashing the sequel checks with children being their primary target. Very low quality story. Stick with Saturday morning cartoons -- at least they're free.

2.0 out of 5 stars the almighty buck, September 10, 2003

OK, my 3 year old likes it. But anyone over age 10 will notice glaring differences between the original Lilo and Stitch and Stitch the Movie. The lack of effort and emphasis on the backgrounds of the scene are obvious. While L&S had lush, detailed beautiful scenes of Hawaii, these backgrounds provide the bare minimum in background graphics and detail. It looks like they hacked it out as fast as possible. The fact that the production crew was different from the first graphics production crew is also obvious because there is a different feel to the style. The music track is perfunctory. I recommend that you check it out from a store before you spend $20 on it. I wish I had.

This movie was not drawn/animated as well as the first and true 2nd movies, but it's not terrible as these other close-minded, picky reviewers say! Do you even think of how hard, how expensive, and how time-consuming it is to make beautifully animated movies such as the first Lilo and Stitch movie? You can't expect to get such great animation whenever you want! It takes a lot of work, time, and care to create such cartoons. (Also if they don't have money to make it extra special, it won't be- though it's hard to believe Disney can't afford anything...) So I wish others would stop whining about a movie not being perfectly animated, etc. Stop being so childish with 'GIMME-GIMME'! ('Gimme-Gimme' never gets!)

This movie is animated more like the series, which is still easy on the eyes and funny. It's more like what I call an 'episode-movie', not really a 'movie-movie' (such as the first one). What should really matter is wanting to see the characters in another great adventure and Hamsterville is a great new evil villian (more a true evil villian than Jumba). If you're a true not picky fan of L&S and company, you'll enjoy this movie. The storyline was fine and it's only real purpose was for Disney to make more money with their cartoon series following this movie advertisement. 625 other experiments does appear like Pokemon, but Disney most likely will not make a trading card game that requires over 600 cards to play the game. They're making enough money with the series, extra movies, and their limited edition pins plus artwork litho cels. I'm not a crazed Disney fan, but L&S (and Gargoyles!) is definitely fan-worthy.

4.0 out of 5 stars Stitch has me in stitches., January 7, 2004
This review is from: Stitch! The Movie (DVD)
He is one funny alien, this Experiment 626. Especially when he's on the chow-down. And when he realizes a new creature on the island may be a 'cousin?'. This is like a precursor to the TV series, which if you'd give a chance, you'd find charming and fun. It's not the movie, but until the sequel, it'll do. And it'll do nicely for family video nights. Awesome voicings by Daviegh Chase--yeah, the same kid in The Ring.

my four year old REALLY loved Lilo and Stitch so I got her this movie for her birthday. What a disapointment! Flat animation, dull plot, NO MUSIC TO SPEAK OF, just a very dull production. This movie was saved from 0 stars only because that rating is not available. The whole thing is just an expensive (relative to quality) trailer for the new Disney channel cartoon series. Seems to me Disney is trying to cash in on the (fading) popularity of Pokemon, and they don't even try to hide it. The movie box includes a sheet of all the 625 stitch "cousins" so the children can keep track of them, even though the movie includes only two of them. hmmm....wonder where they can see the rest? only toon disney knows for sure......

1.0 out of 5 stars Warning: Prepare to be Disappointed, September 1, 2003

This review is from: Stitch! The Movie (DVD)
Disney should be ashamed of this half hearted release that it has brought out in record time to fleece well intentioned parents out of $$$. The original film was one of the most vibrant and endearing productions we've seen from Disney in years and one of the treasured films in the family library that I am never hesitant to see tossed in the machine. With a direct to video release you always expect the production values to lag from the original, but with a full returning cast of voice talent I expected that to be limited to the animation's quality. Instead families expecting to see charmingly developed characters and witty humor are subjected to a hackneyed plot and stale characterizations that bear no resemblance to the original's almost believable cast. I am personally ranking this one in the Ishtar hall of shame and have already relegated the DVD to the circular file under the kitchen sink. Your children do not deserve to be exposed to such mindlessness and neither do you. Rent it if you must, but if you and your children loved the original purchasing this one will leave you feeling cheated.

1.0 out of 5 stars A major letdown!, August 31, 2003
This review is from: Stitch! The Movie (DVD)
We loved the original Lilo & Stitch, and were eagerly awaiting the release of the sequel. We have been sorely disappointed, to say the least. First off, the great animation of the original is gone -- although the style has been copied, the colors are muddy and the black outlines are too stark. It looks like they let the 3rd or 4th string animators hack away at this. The story also lacks the fun of the first one -- they rehash the "owana" thing so many times it becomes a parody of what they put forth in the original. Most disappointing to my 6 year old, though, was the fact you only see 2 of the other "experiments" -- one they call "Sparky" and one that makes sandwiches -- that's it. The ending is blatantly set up to promote the "series" that Disney is putting on TV. Add an unimaginative musical score, poor plot, and extremely short running time, and this one is completely avoidable. I wish Disney would stop trying to cash in on their successes with crummy, straight to video sequels (Tarzan, Atlantis, etc). It smells of greed and leaves you bitter over your $$$ lost on a bad DVD.
