Gorgeously photographed and styled, this book offers much more than 25 beautiful, contemporary embroidery projects for in-and-around the home. What sets this book apart from all the other crafting and embroidery books I've purchased in the past is that it doubles as an inspirational home decor coffee book. The author presents an eclectic mood and mindset that definitely jives with my aesthetic -- a bit of old-world charm that my grandmother would appreciate, a shabby-chicness that my mother adores -- all with a twist of the elegantly curious (like you're stepping into an Anthropologie store vignette).

For any creative, crafty individuals tapped into the handmade movement or even for beginners who are intrigued by DIY and want to know where to start, I recommend this book for you, your friends, colleagues, mothers, aunts, teachers, etc. as it would make such a perfect gift for any occasion (especially holidays, birthdays, and a great gift for new moms at a baby shower!).

With my first baby on the way, I'm in complete "nesting" mode and cannot wait to get started on some of these projects that will go in the nursery. There's nothing that says "I love you" more than something you've made by hand and this book, with its step-by-step and easy to follow projects, will help me create the cutest and most eclectic art wall ever! Cannot wait to pass it on to my daughter one day when she's old enough (fingers crossed that she develops an appreciation for fine art and crafts as I do!).

Stitched Gifts is not only an easy to follow, creative guide to making simple projects but it is a great read! The author, Jessica Marquez, a popular etsy crafter and teacher, shares charming stories and practical tricks of the trade while guiding you through each step of the way of these appealing projects. Well photographed and nice templates. Enjoyed the book thoroughly.Stitched Gifts: 25 Sweet and Simple Embroidery Projects for Every Occasion

This book is a total pleasure to read. The projects inside are inspiring in that they all feel very do-able and very much related to everyday life, yet they are also a unique take on a very old tradition. It thoroughly demonstrates some classic stitches and techniques and then presents a healthy mix of both traditional projects and more contemporary projects (think: Purl Soho and the best of Etsy) all addressing age old themes (babies and little ones, home and hearth, holidays, birthdays, monograms, etc.)

The book is also a beautifully designed, beautifully photographed work in its own right which I love to have out as general inspiration. It is a must-have for anyone who loves hand-making gifts - the projects are most certain to be cherished heirlooms, but are also very current in their design.

Maybe it's my fault, but I didn't realize that all the projects here were hoops you hang on a wall. I think there's one that's a banner. I also didn't realize that they all featured lettering. Based on the reviews, many of which said there were lots of different projects the readers wanted to make, I expected variety and original designs. Hanging embroidery hoops on the wall is not appealing to me at all and I can't think of anyone I know who would be thrilled with such a gift. This is going back.

What an adorable book! A couple of projects are not to my taste but the book as a whole has very cute projects. I am doing the Nursery Alphabet for my grandson. In her book, Jessica Marquez urges us to use her designs to meet our needs. Although stitches are listed for most of the projects, when I couldn't quite figure out all the stitches and colors for the Nursery Alphabet, I emailed her and she sent me the info I needed. It's nice to know she is interested in how crafters use her ideas. This book is a definite buy!

I am new to the embroidery world, so I was excited when I received this book as a gift. I have wanted a new way to hone my creativity and "Stitched Gifts" has really given me a new way to do that. I was a bit intimidated at first, but the author's directions and pictures make it easy to do. I love the use of the pictures because it inspires so many wonderful ideas. My next project is going to be Baby Mine Mobile. I can't wait for my sister's reaction. I highly recommend it for those new and old to the embroidery world.

I never read the directions when I assemble something from Ikea and I rarely follow a recipe, but this book has made me a changed person. I found the instructions simple to follow as well as entertaining. The photography is gorgeous - it helps to have many lovely things to look at as you follow along. Any of these projects would make for great additions to your own home decor or as 'sure to impress' gifts. Great idea for a wedding party or new baby - very thoughtful, but doable gifts!

a wonderful book that brings the classic art of embroidery to a younger, more modern audience. lots of clear information for beginners and there's a few tricks even old pros may not know!
well-written and beautifully photographed, it's full of lovely little projects. i love that the wide array of projects are adaptable and can easily be imagined going far beyond the embroidery hoop.
the author clearly has a passion for sewing and teaching and covers everything from various pattern transferring methods to final finishing and framing.
very glad i purchased this book... it was a joy to read and i'm sure i will refer to it often!
