Absolutely adorable, tons of projects and motif ideas, June 27, 2010
This review is from: Stitchy Kitty Fuzzy Puppy (Paperback)
The cover photo really does this book justice. If you like the look of the stump work style dog and cat featured, you'll love this book. It features thorough how-tos for creating embroidery versions of your favorite pets. Many dog breeds are featured, including Cavalier King Charles, Schauzer, Poodle, Terrier, Dachsund and Beagle. Cats are bit more generic in their representation, though there is a lovely Persian cat featured. The pets are shown displayed on everything from linens to clothing to pillows. The projects let the embroidery shine (fabric used is often beige or ecru linens; solid, primary colors with use of black or white) and are clearly described, utilizing great diagrams and a thorough stitch guide. I've been embroidering for awhile so I didn't see anything that looked too difficult to accomplish but a basic knowledge of embroidery would probably be useful to have before working on these projects.
If you love Japanese-style crafts, embroidery, dogs and/or cats and you want to try out some unusual stitches, give this book a try.
