Book Description

August 14, 2001
Stock Market Rollercoaster is a novel about the world of share dealing.

John is a dissatisfied teacher who yearns to escape from his humdrum world into the dynamic arena of international finance. We follow him as he starts at a share dealing firm and witness his rise from naive trading floor junior to worldly-wise trader fighting to survive on the cut-throat main dealing floor. His story is an abject lesson in the perils, illusions, dreams and nightmares of both clients and dealers in the world of the stock market.

Stock Market Rollercoaster is a unique, powerful investment guide and tells more about the world of stock broking than any other book. It lists the main principles taught by his mentor providing a 'Rules from the Masterclass' chapter by chapter listing at the end of the book.

From the Back Cover

John is a teacher at the Bluestock Grammar School who yearns to escape from his humdrum world into the dynamic and bedazzling arena of international finance. We follow John as he starts at share dealing firm New Market Securities and witness his rise from na?ve training floor junior to steely, worldly-wise dealer fighting to survive on the cut-throat main dealing floor. His story is an object lesson in the perils, illusions, dreams and nightmares of both clients and dealers in the heady world of the stock market.
Stock Market Rollercoaster describes, in frighteningly authentic detail, how a securities business operates. It is the most extraordinary, powerful and streetwise investment guide you'll ever read. It shatters the barriers of silence that the City puts up and provides a thrilling crash course on how, and how not to, deal on the international stock markets.

5.0 out of 5 stars More than fantasies, February 28, 2002
By A Customer
This review is from: Stock Market Rollercoaster: A Story of Risk, Greed and Temptation (Paperback)
Although this book looks like one of those self-gratifying fantasies at first sight, it actually offers much much more than those watered-down stock market tales like "Wall Street" and "The Boiler Room". The reader is taken through the career of a City professional from his humble beginning to the near height of his life. The tales told about the inner workings of brokerage firms are gripping and sharp. The turn of events seems somewhat convenient, one cannot help but has the idea that the main point about writing this book is not about satisfying fantasies, but to reveal the true nature of the stock market and how it affects those who are dumb enough to play it blindly. This book reveals rare information that one will not find in any other self-help investment book. Read it wisely and carefully, but only after you have some fundamental understanding of the stock market. The insights you gain in reading this book will take you through a rollercoaster of ideas. In the end, you will find yourself coming to a conclusion that is much the same as you have suspected: Stock market is all about playing the game.
