5.0 out of 5 stars Wonderful book, May 10, 2009
This review is from: Stocking Up: How to Preserve the Foods You Grow Naturally (Hardcover)
This is an excellent book for learning about preserving foods the old fashioned way. The book covers many things including making your own candles, lard, etc.

If you can foods at home, Stocking Up should be in your library. There are so many recipes, helpful hints and other food preservation do's and don'ts that I personally have worn out three copies. My grown children are now canning and I've purchased this book for them.

5.0 out of 5 stars The best book ever for preserving and putting up foods., August 31, 2010

"Stocking Up" expanded edition is the best book Rodale Press has ever published. I wish they would do another printing of it as there is no ohter like it on the market today.

This younger generation needs to learn HOW to be self sufficient. I have purchased this book for myself (20 years ago), 2 daughters,1 son, and most recently for the neighbors. I have 17 granddaughters, and 6 grandsons. Some are asking me how to do this or that all the time. It would be nice to get them one of the above so they could learn on their own. What happens when Grandma bites the dust?

I thank the Autisem folks for listing this on Amazon.

This book is one of the neatest books we have found. There are the most amazing recipies and instructions for preserving foods! Definately not your basic "canning book". This book would be a great gift for the least experienced
to the most experienced when it comes to preserving foods. We were amazed at how thick this book was when we received it. It was a great buy!

I like this book because it tells us how to preserve everything. Jams and Jellies with low sugar or honey, How to Blanch properly, etc. I first made corned beef from this book and someone borrowed it and did not bring it back so I wanted another copy.
