Book Description

SBMFF consists of three sections (one on stocks; one on bonds; one on mutual funds) plus Appendices and References and an Index.

SBMFF is a concise, reader-friendly explanation of concepts and definitions need as a background for ordinary people investing in stocks, bonds, and mutual bonds. It condenses the advice and tests of successful investment gurus, such as Bogel and Lynch (sources cited) and gives over 100 phone numbers and web sites, pointing the beginning investor toward healthy investments that generate timely returns.

SBMFF provides the reader with tools for comparing stocks, evaluating mutual funds by several criteria, seeing how interest rates affect bond prices, advice on constructing a portfolio, tracking investment performance, finding no-load and low-load funds, learning about Dow-Jones stocks, and understanding as well as applying typical Value Line and Morningstar fund pages.

Editorial Reviews

Review

"...has demonstrated her ability to make even the most difficult money-making concepts accessible to every reader." -- Dr. Jeanette Nyda Passty, Biographee, Centennial Edition, Marquis Who's Who in America

About the Author

L. J. Donohoe is a retired mathematics professor, who has been extraordinarily successful in investing. Several associates asked her to write a booklet for their high school children. The result is Stock Market Fundamentals (ISBN 0-9662673-0-3), which has been successfully used in honors classes; however, it was the parents and parents' friends who bought the booklet.

L. J. Donohoe has also had a successful career in marketing and computers at both General Electric and Texas Instruments. At both companies part of her responsibility was analyzing competitor performance, which introduced her to evaluation methods for determining stock value.

She believes most people with the aid of Value Line and Morningstar (and the internet) can, without the aid of expensive brokers, find secure growth investment vehicles - provided the people understand investment language/terms and are aware of the practices of successful investors.
