Product Description

The Sto-fen OM-EV Omni-Bounce Flash Diffuser for Canon EX270, EX 270 II is designed to custom fit the Canon EX270 and EX 270 II strobe. You don't have to use velcro to attach the diffuser and it is small enough to fit easily into your pocket or gadget bag. The Omni-Bounce creates a diffused light effect, giving even coverage across your subjects. It can be used with lenses as wide as 15mm to 200mm long. The Omni-Bounce goes on and off of your flash in seconds because it is custom fitted, so no velcro is required.

Couldn't find this particular model in my local camera shop, even though they carry Sto-Fen products. I ordered it through Amazon and it arrived quickly.
Yes, it's a little piece of Tupperware.... fine. It costs a bit of money, but that's the world of photographic products. It's the cost vs. results. I was taking pictures with the pop-up flash of my Canon SX1IS, getting harsh flash photos and sometimes shadow from the lens shade. The 270EX flash is much better for flash photos. This diffuser takes away some light, but there are no compensations you have to think about... the camera does all that. There is a card included from Sto-Fen that describes the light loss, distance reduction of the flash... but for me, it comes down to taking nice candid photos of friends. The 60 degree position provides a softer, higher flash position and photos are much more flattering. The shadows are much less harsh. The diffuser clicks onto the 270EX and stays on... (good thing). Removing it should be done carefully, but it's not difficult.
Are better flash photos worth the money for this photographic tool? I'm saying yes. If I loose or break this one, I would buy another.

Yes, $13 seems a little over priced for a piece of plastic but if your spending $250 on a flash, spend the extra $13. You'll be able to get much better pictures with your flash, especially when you cannot bounce it off something. I also tried the Zeikos ZE-HD270 diffuser, which didn't even fit, and an unbranded one from a camera shop which always fell off. It fits great. Easy to get on or off and never falls off.

The review title says it all. This little diffuser just about doubles the usefulness of the Speedlight 270EX flash. I keep it on the flash almost all of the time. When using the flash in bounce mode, it kicks just enough light into the subjects faces to reduce or eliminate the shadows created by bouncing the flash off the ceiling. When used in direct mode, it softens the flash just enough (in most cases) to produce a more pleasing photo. Don't choose a cheap imitation. This is the real deal. Fits securely on the flash and won't fall off, even in the camera bag.

While the value of this particular diffuser is questionable ($20 for a piece of plastic?), the quality is certainly there. It severely cuts the range of my 270EX but when shot with tele or bounced at 60 degrees, it really takes the harshness away from using a flash to begin with.

Little and light, fits everywhere. It's a must have if you cannot bounce the flash. Actually I never take it off. It works even great with bounce flash. No underexposure!

Not much that you can say about a little piece of plastic. This diffuser fits on the Speedlite 270EX very well. It holds firmly in place, yet is relatively easy to remove. Seems to do a good job of diffusing the flash.

After readings reviews of the Speedlight 270EX, and hearing that it is extremely bright, I purchased this diffuser. I have to say that it was a great purchase. It lives on my flash, and I only take it off when I need the full power of the flash (with subjects ~30+ feet away in a drakened environment.) The first one managed to get lost when a friend borrowed my camera, and after I found out, I immediately bought another.

The diffuser fits the flash perfectly. It is small enough to slide into a pocket an durable enough to not have to worry about it in your pocket. This diffuser goes on and off the flash easily, yet when on the flash, you dont have to worry about it falling off.

I would deffinatley recommend this diffuser for anyone who is loking at the Speedlight 270EX.

I have used Stofen products for years to soften my flash output. This flash modifier fits well and the translucent plastic scatters the light to minimize the somewhat harsh output of this small portable flash. This product fits both the 270 EX and the 270 EX II versions of the Canon flash. It will knock down the light output by 1 1/2 to 2 stops when used directly. They recommend using the flash in its 60 degree angle for landscape format and straight on (90 degree) for portrait mode. I use a small length of 1" gaffers tape to keep the Omni-Bounce in place. Even with the Stofen modifier taped on the flash, it still fits in its pouch.

The 270 EX II is a nice small flash for travel. My wife uses it on her Rebel in lieu of the pop up and I use it on my Canon 5D Mk III when traveling. The 270 can even be used to remotely trigger either camera when set to slave mode. To do this just put the camera in remote/2 second timer mode, slide the flash to Slave and hit the black button on the right side to trigger your camera.
