Of course, being the webmaster of a Beth Orton fan site, I better own this. Now let me tell you why you should: The Shed version of "Stars All Seem To Weep".I found the original version to be good, but it wasn't one of my favorites. The Shed version removes all barriers between the listener and the message of the song. Haunting string arrangements heighten the drama of the message: "I dreamed about you in the moonlit skies, and the stars all seemed to weep". Somehow the poetry of this song was not so evident in the original version, but it is now, and it's well worth the price of the entire CD just for this one song. Stolen Car, yes, we've heard that. LOVE IT. The "Live at Maxwell's" version of "Touch Me With Your Love" is equally impressive. If you have never heard that song done live before, again, you're in for a treat. You can hear Beth's desire when she pleads, "Can you touch me with your love? Can you feel it if I trust enough?" Amazing. Do own it. |
