Book Description

New contemporary romance by the author of the bestselling romance "Always"

Catherine Davis is a thief. She learned long ago that emotional ties clench around the heart like a fist. No one walks away from love unwounded. So Catherine leads her life on the emotional periphery, taking money from people who’ll never miss it, never getting close enough to care. She slips from one life to another like a ghost, escaping one identity and assuming another, never leaving a trace.

But when TV producer, Ryan Hollister, catches her at her game, he ends up demanding the ultimate forfeit and tumbles Catherine over the edge of a path to self-discovery.

From the Author

Long before I started writing romance, I was a romance reader. I grew up reading Anne Stuart and Jayne Ann Krentz and enjoyed be drawn into the adventures and the challenges facing brave heroines and bold heroes as they find love.
While I love rereading old favorites, I particularly enjoy exploring books by new and newly-discovered romance authors, too. I love the work of Kristan Higgins, Jill Shalvis, Meg Cabot and Rachel Gibson and they provided me with lot of inspiration when I was a novice romance writer.

These days there doesn't seem to be enough time to read, write and work my full time job as a psychotherapist, but I am trying! Currently, I am writing a romantic series about three brothers who run an architectural salvage company.

And in the mean time, I found a new cover for my book Race The Darkness, an intense, sexy story of Kinkade Holbert who races motorcycles like dying doesn't scare him.

5.0 out of 5 stars A book worthy of the journey April 12, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This books packs a wallop. At first, I figured it would be a light-hearted story of a "bad" girl caught and rehabilitated by a "good" guy. However, the book goes much deeper than that.

Those who have had the misfortune of being abandoned by one's only parent, thrust into a situation where abuse is the norm, and finally escaping that abuse, can perhaps understand Catherine's outlook and reactions. Her early years' experiences had a strong impact on her emotions, and Ms. Rose deftly created a scenario that rings true. What any of us experience in our growing-up years affects our journey as adults. Some things can be overcome easily; others only with a lot of work, a lot of love, and a lot of prayer.

I don't want to spoil the book for others, so will not reveal any more details except to say: Allowing oneself to love, to become vulnerable, and to forgive oneself are perhaps the hardest things one can do. Was Catherine frigid? I think not. She was scared of being hurt again -- hurt deeply -- and resorted to the only action possible (so she thought) to protect herself.

The final piece of the puzzle was a long time coming, but the build up was handled excellently.

I found myself in tears throughout the last quarter of the book. How can one not be?

I intend to read this one again. Thanks, Ms. Rose, for crafting an excellent read.

4.0 out of 5 stars I cried so much! April 8, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
When i first saw the cover of the book and read the description i thought "I love thief themed books! They are usually so exciting". While it truly did not pan out the way i expected, i cannot say i was disappointed. I like the main characters because they were both strong individuals and it was interesting and also frustrating to see the heroine relentlessly fight off her attraction to the hero. Her emotional turmoil and seemingly inability to accept or give love due to her horrid childhood had me sympathizing with her, but her frigidness almost seemed a little too excessive. I truly loved the hero because of his openness compared to the heroine and his persistance toward his love for her. Of course, the hero had his blunders but what can one expect when he was in the dark about who the heroine was. Overall the book was interesting and had me crying and rooting for their love despite the obvious challenges and speed bumps.

1.0 out of 5 stars Abusive and strange April 28, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This entire book glorifies and romanticizes abusive relationships under the guise of "learning how to love". There is no love here, just a male protagonist obsessed with controlling the woman he is determined to possess. She's not a human being to him, she's a mountain to be climbed. The story was incredibly triggering and did nothing but remind me of abusive men I've met/been involved with, and I imagine it would do the same for others. GIve it a pass. There are better love stories out there.
