5.0 out of 5 stars Fun, clean, Christian kids' mystery, June 7, 2011
This review is from: Stolen Secrets (Red Rock Mysteries, No. 2) (Paperback)
Red Rock Mysteries is a mystery series starring 13-year-old twin detectives. It is written in 1st person and switches between the twins for each chapter, sometimes picking up where the other twin left off (when together) and sometimes talking about totally different topics (when apart).

In Stolen Secrets, the book starts off with their stepfather appologizing for killing their father. Before he can explain more, he gets a phone call that results in being gone several days. Meanwhile, 2 girls from the local middle school are abducted and the whole town goes on edge looking for the homeless man who they had id'd as the kidnapper.

The story is enjoyable, and it is obvious that the kids are Christians even though there is no specific moral of the story. There is a lesson of not jumping to conclusions and not believing rumors, but mostly it is just a fun mystery.

I bought this book for my younger sister, and couldn't help reading it myself. It's a great continuation of the first book in this series, and addresses the serious question brought up at the end of book one: "What really happened to Ashley and Bryce's Dad." The book is well-written, fast-paced, and entertaining. Best of all, it teaches important spiritual lessons in the context of normal life, through the eyes of normal kids.
