Stolen Souls, March 5, 2005

Jeffrey Sackett does, indeed, rock the house. His books are out of print and hard to find, but well worth the search. If you have any liking for a decent horror novel, you will love his work!

Jeffrey Sackett has outdone himself with this one., May 25, 1998

Stolen Souls is a kick-butt horror novel. I had great reservations about reading this book, because I'm not a fan of mummy stories; but Stolen Souls was a terrifying read, and the "mummies" are chillingly frightening, with their unstoppable powers and utter disdain for us mortal people. If you are lucky enough to have this book, because it is hard to find, read it! You'll love it. (And if you're interesed, his other works are killer reads also.)

Stays with you ... forever, December 30, 2010
This review is from: Stolen Souls (Mass Market Paperback)
I wish they would make a movie out of this. I read this in the early nineties, during a spate of horror reading. My normal preference is vampires and werewolves, not mummies. I found this book eerily compelling ... absolutely terrifying (the only other thing that's ever terrified me was Pet Sematary, and the original movie of The Fog) ... and haunting. I eventually bought more than one copy.

Incredible Story!, January 3, 2008
This review is from: Stolen Souls (Mass Market Paperback)
Sackett has a Master's degree in European history and a Master's degree in East Asian history. He's also knowledgable in the classical Greek and Latin languages.
He's a great horror writer. I've read several of his books including, 'Stolen Souls', which is my favorite so far. He takes traditional stories and makes them modern day. His extensive and accurate knowledge of history turn this book into a, 'DaVinci Code', type journey. This book, however, was released in 1987. Sackett was (is) ahead of his time in the popular fiction world.
Well defined characters draw you into the story from the beginning.
I also strongly suggest two other Sackett books that I've reviewed. 'Mark of the Werewolf', and 'The Demon'.
