Smokin' Bop & Swing!,

Break out the leather soles and push back the rug, we're going dancin' with the Duke! Man-O-Man this cat is on target with all the Boppers, Shaggers & Swingers that call the dance halls home. Tight sounds and terrific beats keep you snappin' fingers & stompin' feet! A+, but, next time nix the slow stuff!!

This music bridges the old true blues sound with the new electric sound and does so W/O losing the nuance of tradition. Slows the electric sound before the blues turn into rock and roll which happens in many young artists that try to play the blues in todays music society. 16 Tracks to entertain you and will fit nicely into your collection...........

A guitarist's album,
This review is from: Stomp! The Blues Tonight (Audio CD)
After recent, lugubrious attempts at pop, jazz and big band music, Robillard is back doing what he does best--playing and singing the blues. Many of the tunes here will remind you of his old band, Roomful of Blues (several Roomful alumni are present here), as the sound is inspired by late 1940s and early 1950s R&B. The self-composed title track has T-Bone Walker stamped all over it, as Robillard recycles many of Walker's signature guitar licks. Although Walker's influence is prevalent throughout, Robillard also pays tribute to Johnny "Guitar" Watson on "Three Hours Past Midnight," Lowell Fulson on "Do Me Right" and Ike Turner on "Tore Up." There's a local connection as Robillard covers Paul Gayten's "For You My Love." A fat, four-piece horn section provides strong backup and Sunny Crownover helps on vocals, but this is most definitely a guitarist's album.--OffBeat Magazine, April 2010 issue
