5.0 out of 5 stars Finally (and unbelievably) on DVD! The full show!
It is rare for stage shows to get a video release. You can count the DVD releases of still-active Broadway shows on one hand and have a few fingers left over. STOMP, thank goodness, is tossing that rule into one of their oft-used and abused trash bins.

2.0 out of 5 stars Beware!!! NO Surround Sound!!!!
I love Stomp. The image quality is excellent.

But beware!!! This DVD IS NOT IN SURROUND SOUND!!!!!!!!!!

As impossible as it sounds, this Bluray is recorded in "Dolby STEREO". So all that you are going to get is the use of your 3 front speakers and, depending of your sound receiver, a simulated effect on the rear speakers.

Fist of...

It is rare for stage shows to get a video release. You can count the DVD releases of still-active Broadway shows on one hand and have a few fingers left over. STOMP, thank goodness, is tossing that rule into one of their oft-used and abused trash bins.

This DVD features a full performance of the wonderfully entertaining stage show, filmed in the UK on the same stage where many of the show's segments were created.

Even after a decade and a half, STOMP still defies easy description. Part concert, part theatre.... Impossible to pigeonhole. But it is 100% entertaining and fun. In STOMP, the world is your drum kit.

I've attended ten performances of this show since 1995 and I never grow tired of it. This DVD is a perfect souvenir of the performance.

There are quite a few bonus features on the disc, including a peek at some new bits being developed for future versions of the show. You also get performer bios, interviews with STOMP creators and directors, an alternate take of one show segment, and a few other bells and whistles.

A few years back saw the release of "STOMP Out Loud" on home video. It featured bits from the stage show and new material created especially for the pay-cable program, but it wasn't the complete show. Not even close. I liked "STOMP Out Loud", but I was a little disappointed that I wasn't getting the full stage show.

But now it's here!!

I cannot recommend this DVD enough. Fun, fun show. Even my fuddy-duddy friends who don't like theatre love this show.

Great disc, good crisp picture and sound.

I've only had it 24 hours and I've already watched it twice.

My personal favorite segment is "Hands and Feet", perhaps the most rhythmically complex and interesting part of the show. It is carefully structured and choreographed but also allows room for quite a bit of improvisation, like a jazz routine.

In a perfect world, someone would figure out how to mesh the magic of STOMP with the zany and creative juggling of The Flying Karamazov Brothers......

5.0 out of 5 stars WOW!, January 7, 2010

After having Stomp Out Loud recommended by a friend, I had to see this one, which I ended up liking as much, if not more than the other. Once I saw it, I had to own it. It makes me smile every time I watch it, has me getting out anything I can bang on, makes me laugh and shows me that the one common language of humanity is the rhythm of life in everything - breathing, walking, drumming or nature. Wonderful and highly recommended DVD. These people are so incredibly talented. It's a contagious movie. Be prepared with anything you can make sound with - but not dishes! You will get carried away.

This video is awesome.....you MUST own it. After watching the video we decided to have a "stomp party" and invited friends over and had some of our favorite beverages and snacks and had a wonderful time watching this video together. I highly recommend it.

5.0 out of 5 stars Stompin' Great Show, February 21, 2009

The great quality of Blu-ray adds to the impact of this live recording of a unique stage show. Seeing the sweat and dust of this performance is just like being at a live show. Clean crisp audio picks up the quiet sound of a broom sweeping the flooor to the heavy percussion of pounding the crap out of all sorts of objects.

I only learned about this group in Dolby Digital pre-movie sequence.
I am glad Amazon still has Bluray copy. Great show. My son loved watching it.

Highly recommended.

By the way, Amazon did a great job by shipping it earlier than expected.

5.0 out of 5 stars Boring at first....Then it hits ya~!, December 12, 2011
This review is from: STOMP Live (DVD)
After watching this last night, I have to give it 5 stars, at first it starts off kinda slow, but once you get into it, it gets really interesting.
one of my favorite was the "Newspapers" who would have ever thought you could make music with that~! Great for kids, but definitely a long program, so
be ready to sit for a long period of time. Makes a great unique gift!

If your goal is to capture a real STOMP performance and share that experience with others, this is about as good as it gets without being in the audience yourself. (Maybe even better, since you can see it numerous times without the shelling out $$ for NYC theater tickets)

Great videography, production, and sound quality. My middle school students are still talking about it, weeks after having seen it.

On its own merits, this video is just plain fun to watch and listen to. You wouldn't want to do it every day, but when you're in the mood, it can't be topped. A bonus for us is the informal exposure it gives our 8-year old to one of the fundamental elements of music. He was banging around for weeks on things he picked up.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fascinating and looks so easy, June 24, 2011

Bought this DVD after seeing the show. It is fascinating to watch and makes you want to try it out for yourself. The percussion is interesting and the sounds incredible. How they can make such sounds with such simple items beats me! I would highly recommend it if you are looking for something different.
