5.0 out of 5 stars I wish they played this in my church November 1, 2001
Format:Audio CD
If you love feeling GOOD, then this is your CD and your band. Hard to label it: Gospel meets Funk meets Country meets 80s Hair Rock, and throw in a little down-home Bluegrass pickin' by the aptly named "Tramp." They've even got a "Stomp Box" in there, whateverthehell that is. The result will make you embarass yourself at traffic lights.

5.0 out of 5 stars Buy it! September 29, 2001
Format:Audio CD|Verified Purchase
I saw Bonepony live in 1994 or 1995, and still remember the show fondly. They played all their own songs and yet I was drawn into the music the way I would be if I were listening to a well-known group play songs I'd known and loved for years. The other day, the group came to mind, and I decided to look for a CD. It's better than I remembered. This is just a 3-person band, but the music has plenty of intricacy; a really "full" sound. As for describing the style, the title "Stomp Revival" sums it up. You'd have to be dead to resist the urge to stomp your feet to this one!

5.0 out of 5 stars Hands down..MY Fave Cd EVER!! August 16, 2001
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
It's tought to describe my feelings for this Cd!...Never is my life has a Cd (well I got it on tape first) changed my life..but this did!...I have owned this Cd for over 6 years..and still to this day it inspires me, it enlightens me, it heightens me. It might sound corny..but it's the truth. The Cd touches upon Rock/Folk/Country/Bluegrass...all of these elements to make something totally original!..Scott Johnson's voice is just magical...upon hearing it..even to this is amazing...the songs themselves are catchy and uplifting..themes are day to day...almost everyone can relate to each and every song......well all I can get this Cd if you's hard to find..but well worth it!

5.0 out of 5 stars Best of the never heard of them bands! January 15, 2008
Format:Audio CD
I first heard Bonepony playing a free show in the back lot of a Jamaican restuarant within walking distance of my apartment on Music Row in Nashville around '95. Mu girlfriend and I decided to give them a listen, wondering what we might hear, country or maybe bluegrass, as I see a dobro, mandolin, yet here's some bongo drums, hmm. Then they start off JAMMIN' away, and I'm wondering what is this? Thinking maybe something akin to Lonesome Jubilee by Mellencamp. Then by the second song or so, this wild haired dude is just Slammin' on the bongos, the others jammin' on the madolin and guitar with the amps cracked up like some hillbilly rock 'n roll hoedown and the whole crowd's jamming away, hm, this is different. One of the best concerts I've ever seen anywhere and it's outside and free!

I'd liken the music as somewhat akin to Mellancamp's Lonesome Jubilee period, but much more upbeat, driving and brighter. Maybe Cougar meets Boston meets Steve Earle out on Copperhead Road?
After all these years, still one of my favorite CDs, a never heard of classic.

5.0 out of 5 stars awesome!!!! July 1, 1999
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
I've seen these guys in concert in Maryland. I couldn't keep still. I finally had to purchase the CD, which has been my best friend for years. This CD goes with me everywhere, and I've turned lots of people on to Bonepony. It's the kind of CD that will always bring you up if your feeling blue, it's a great CD to put you in the mood for all kinds of fun. Their second on is just as good. If you need more of them try Traveler's Companion.

Once in a while a disc comes along that makes you feel too good to feel bad. Stomp Revival is one of them. From the rural anthem "Where the Water's Deep" to the tender ballad "Rebecca" to the light-hearted "Bleeker Street", Stomp Revival is an exercise in down-home, feel-good "bomp".
If I had to sum up my review in three words, those three words would be "buy this disc". If you can find it, that is. Better still, if you have the chance, see Bonepony live. If you have a pulse, you should begin to experience autonomous involuntary toe-tapping and/or finger-snapping within thirty seconds of exposure.

5.0 out of 5 stars Rockin'!! October 24, 1998
By A Customer
Format:Audio CD
The kind of album that sends a girl into a frenzy of good old fashioned rockin'! I can imagine popping it into the CD player when I'm driving down a long straight road, and I got nothin' but hours of driving ahead of me. But watch out for the cops, 'cause this one is likely to make you forget about the speed. At some point you'll want to get off the road and have a nice, tall cold one too! An excellent album all the way through... but my favorite lyric by far is "like wet toungue suckin' on a peppermint" on "Where the Water's Deep". I can't play that one at work anymore...I made a dancin' fool of myself too many times at my desk.

TERRIFIC! Really ahead of it's time. Terrific audio. Quite an unusual blend of many different instruments. Great songs. It certainly ain't country!
