A compelling read,
By High Priestess Morgaine (Avalon) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In the Stone Circle (Hardcover)
This book was an amazing tlae, taking several themes, and incorporating them into one carefully spun story. This is the story of a girl who has grown up without a mother, and now must go with her father to the distant and remote country of Wales. Also, it is a story of another family, one filled with the horrors of divorce, and an awful secret. Last. but certainly not least, is the tale of Carwen, the ghost. Her story is heartwarming, but also heartbreaking. Kimmel does an excellent job of tying the themes together. Also, she does an excellent job of developing her characters. I love and hate Dennis and Miranda- sometimes at the same time. Miranda in particular is an intriguing character. I also love the backdrop of Wales. It was a great place to set this story. I would suggest this story to anyone who enjoys ghost stories, mysteries, or family dramas. Happy Reading!

A hair-raising tale from the USA to Wales,
By Erika Soeterik (Auckland, New Zealand) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In The Stone Circle (Paperback)
Cristyn has traveled to Wales to spend the summer with her dad while he does research for a book about Owain Glyndwr. Not only does she loose her summer to a country that she has never seen before, she also has to share the house with Erica Dunham and her two children Miranda and Dennis. It's worse than Christyn thought though because Miranda is moody and Dennis is a pain. Then spooky things start to happen in the house and Christyn feels as though she is being watched. Then she discovers the secret of the cellar. This book was inspired by a trip to Wales by the author. It is an amazing book that brings the beauty of Wales to life - even though it is somewhat soggy as the author has it raining just about every day. Cristyn didn't want to go to Wales at all, but she became curious when her father told her that her mother was from Wales. That curiosity grows when she discovers the secret of the cellar and who has been haunting her. This is a brillaintly written novel that flowed from page to page, keeping you firmly locked up in the sotry along the way. Miranda is probably one of the most annoying people I have ever come across in a book, but as the story unfolds you learn why she is the way she is (and her story is pretty sad). I read this in one sitting because I didn't want to put the book down, and I spent a very enjoyable afternoon lost in it's pages.

Katie's Review,
By Twitch the pooba "~*KT*~" (NH, usa) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In The Stone Circle (Paperback)
I thought this was one of the best books I have ever read.
I have re-read it twice and the second time I read it it had taken me only two days. Now, I travel sometimes with my class and whenever we do I bring "In The Stone Circle." It had alot of description. I thought that the events that took place were very well thought out. I liked the part where the two girls, Christen and Miranda were trapped in the stair well. It was very intense. At parts I predicted what was going to happen, though at others I couldn't figure out what was going on. I think this will be my favorite book of all time. I look forward to reading other books from this author.

Welsh history is great!,
By Kelly G. (Lakeville, MN) - See all my reviews
This review is from: In The Stone Circle (Paperback)
I read other ghost stories like Time for Andrew and Wait Til Helen Comes, but In the Stone Circle just sucked me in. Since I am a history nut, I was fascinated by the Welsh history. The ghost was equally fascinating. I would highly recommend this book to others.

What a great title,
By Lauren (Canton, Ohio United States) - See all my reviews

When I first got this book, the title is what made me want to read it. It had been sitting on my bookshelf for a few months, until I finally started reading it. It was so great that I couldn't put it down. I read it in two days. The whole thing about being in an old house, and stuff moving, and finding a ghost, really made me think this was a wonderful story. I'm so glad I opened this book up. It was one of the best books I have ever read.

The Stone Circle Captured Me,
A Kid's Review
This review is from: In The Stone Circle (Paperback)
I read this book in a very short period of time for one reason. The stone circle was so enthralling, that I couldnt put it down. The story line kept me interested, and the suspence was great. I especially liked the charector developement. The people who had to spend a summer together began to develope relationships with each other. Immeadiatly we found out that Miranda and Denis despised each other, and that Miranda and her mother were not together. After a little more of the story unfolded, we figured out that possibly Mr. Stone and Miranda's mother liked each other. I particulary liked the way the author used analogies to descibe the scene. It greratly enhanced my comprehension and understanding of the setting, and what was going on. I loved this book, and rated it a five out of five.

Terrific,
By Court (Wisconsin) - See all my reviews

I really liked this book. The way Kimmel incorporated the historic events in with the story was absolutely great. I am a big fan of stories that include history in them. Kimmel also did a terrific job of explaining the characters and the stituations so well that you feel like your actually living the story. I would recommend this book to everyone because it has become my favorite.
