Book Description

Ten years is a long time to run.

When Maggie McGregor returns to San Carlos, New Mexico to settle her parent's estate, she realizes nothing has changed. The small town still blames her for the accident which claimed Jared Daniel's life ten years ago. Maggie and the real killer are the only two who know the truth about what really happened that night - and he's intent on making sure she doesn't talk. As she's drawn into a dangerous game of cat and mouse, Maggie turns to handsome neighbor, Nick Stone, for assistance. She trusts him with her life, but can she trust him with her heart?

Ten years is a long time to wait for revenge.

Nick Stone vowed to avenge his cousin's death after Maggie McGregor drove her car into a tree and left the boy to die. No charges were ever filed against the drunk driver but not a day goes by that Nick doesn't think of revenge. Now that Maggie's back in San Carlos, he can't wait to settle the score. He just didn't plan on his target being so darned sexy.

Ten years is a long time to hide a murder.

Jared Daniels died in a car accident after leaving a high school graduation party.Or so everyone thinks. One man has kept a heinous secret for ten years but Maggie McGregor's untimely return could expose him, ruining his chance to close a lucrative deal with the cartel. If he can't scare her off, he'll have to kill her . . . and anyone else who gets in his way.

4.0 out of 5 stars Sparks fly November 26, 2011
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Here's a new romantic suspense novel to while away your weekend without regret: STONE COLD JUSTICE by Deb Sanders. It's paced to be a very quick read, which is another way of saying you can't put it down.

Maggie McGregor returns to her childhood ranch when her parents die only to find herself getting shot at the minute she gets there. Handsome, sexy cowboy Nick Stone saves her, but then she kicks him in the balls for his efforts. Sexual sparks fly, of course, but there are enough different suspense threads running through STONE COLD JUSTICE to keep you riveted to the story.

5.0 out of 5 stars Fabulous January 11, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I remember a time when I was a kid playing in my grandmothers field and I came across a quarter. To look at it at first glance it was just something shiny with a bunch of mud on it. Then I cleaned it off and found it was somewhat rare and worth much more than the face value. Deb's book is like that. When finding a book to read there are so many books to choose from. All of a sudden I see a book that catches my eye for 99 cents. Then you dig deeper and find this book is worth much more. I was hooked from the first chapter as the scene was masterfully set and I had to read on to see how this was going to play out.
This book is well written and paints a picture as if you were watching a movie. (This story would make a great movie.) I enjoyed reading from cover to cover and look forward to reading more books from Deb Sanders.

3.0 out of 5 stars Quick and entertaining, however....................... January 3, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Ten years ago Maggie McGregor did something she shouldn't have done and was accused of something horrible she didn't do, which forced her to leave her family, friends and hometown. After her parents' death she returns to San Carlos for the opening of the will, which will change her life completely. Totally stunned by her parents' testament she has to find a solution to get rid of her new neighbor Nick who seems to have won her parents' hearts during her absence since he's included in the will. What she doesn't yet know is that Nick pursues his own agenda since he and his brother are closely related to what happened ten years ago.

The plot of the story is clearly arranged, without offering any real and unexpected twists and turns. At certain points the story line became even predictable, which is a pity because the plot surely had the potential for further development but remained shallow and insufficiently elaborated.

However, this drawback was nicely balanced by the two main characters that were likeable and presented in a realistic way.

An easy, enjoyable and unproblematic read that offers many hours of reading pleasure.

3.0 out of 5 stars Had to work to finish it May 15, 2012
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I have to say I was disappointed in this book. The story had a lot of potential- a girl wronged by an entire town coming home with the chance to clear her name. But the writing just fell flat. The characters were shallow and trite, and the rapid change of moods felt artificial, not normal human reactions. Perhaps if the author re-worked the book, giving more thought to how people really react this would have flowed more smoothly. On the other hand, I DID finish it, so it gets three stars.

3.0 out of 5 stars Gratutious April 19, 2014

Some of the brutality in this book is just gratuitous.
Conversations seem forced and unnatural.
Many of the scenarios depicted are unlikely and obvious opportunities to solve the crimes or capture the perpetrators are ignored - presumably to extend the telling of the tale....
The saga is open-ended; presumably in an endeavour to promote the purchase of subsequent books - no thanks, I just find that trait supremely annoying

3.0 out of 5 stars Stone Cold Justice - on Kindle February 6, 2012
By Lalo
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Premise for the story was good. I had a little trouble with the alpha hero. Up until the very end I kept thinking he might be the bad guy. His brother was a little too emotional to be believable as a DEA agent. I have a problem with people who prejudge others and this book is about everyone pre-judging, so it was an uncomfortable read for me. The Kindle version seemed to have some editing problems with entire words missing or else you need to remove some words from a sentence for it to make sense in the story. I really had a problem with the girl still being so in love with the alpha hero after she overheard some very nasty comments about her that he made to his brother. I don't think I would have let him off the hook so easily. I seriously doubt that many women would have. The heroine seemed a bit rash to me at times. When she ran from the hospital, the story nearly lost me. However, it all wrapped up very nicely in the end and they lived HEA. It was an OK read, I would not read it a second time.

The description of putrid saliva in the heroine's mouth was a major big turn off for me. Description is great, even bad things sometimes, but that was disgusting.
