Book Description

Jess Stone, former FBI sniper, always felt like the kid who looks in the candy store window but could never afford to go in. But on a humanitarian mission to aid an earthquake ravaged country, finally she finds a place where she fits, in Colin Davies' arms, and working for Global Humanitarian Relief, her big brother's company. But can the former SAS thaw Jess's stone cold heart?

Check out These Other Family Stone Novellas:

Carved in Stone:

Connor Stone has always been odd man out in his family. Not the oldest, not the most charming, he'd had a lock on the youngest until another half-sibling came to live with them, so he raised hell in his youth. Con knows now the only way to redeem himself is with deeds, not words and sets out to prove once and for all he is worthy of the Stone family. When his older brother asks him to take care of business, Con finally will have redemption he craves. Except when Ava Sanchez, his brother's assistant, is threatened, he must choose between saving the girl or protecting his family. Will his choice bring him love or break his heart?

Heart of Stone:

Riley Stone is the handsome brother, the charming one. Everyone who meets him compares him to his father, which in his mind is not a compliment. But he's never met a woman he couldn't charm, until he meets Di, an acerbic, smart-mouthed, passionate activist who has no time for him or his charm. On the run, in the midst of danger, the blistering passion they share explodes. Can these two opposites find common ground, or will Di smash Riley's stone heart?

And coming soon....

Still the One:

Jack Stone, former Navy SEAL, and oldest Stone sibling is determined to keep his family strong. Family is everything. So he starts Global Humanitarian Relief and Stone Consulting to do some good and keep his family together. But when he has to team up with his old flame, Bliss, on a missing persons case, an evil threatens him, his family and the one woman he could never forget and doesn't want to let go. Can these two former lovers put aside past hurts and heal their hearts?

About Lisa

Lisa Hughey has been writing romance since the fourth grade, which was also about the time she began her love affair with spies. Harriet and Nancy Drew and the Hardy Boys later gave way to James Bond and Lara Croft and Jason Bourne. Exploring the complex nature of a profession that requires subterfuge and lies fascinates her. She loves combining her two passions into fiction. As evidenced by her Black Cipher Files series.

Archangel Rafe was her first foray into the paranormal but after spending time in the Angelic Realm, it won't be her last. At their heart, the Seven novels are about the dynamics of family relationships. But the really hot Archangels don't hurt.

And recently she's been immersed in the Stone Family novellas, four stories about a blended family of brothers and sister who have a lot more in common than they realize. But of course she couldn't just write about family and romance. There are complex plots, bad guys, and suspense too.

Lisa loves to hear from readers and has various places you can connect with her, although, shh, Twitter is her favorite.

4.0 out of 5 stars Good first book in a contemporary romance series February 12, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This is the first book I've read by this author and I enjoyed it. The story was well written and had an interesting plot with some nice twists thrown in. The characters were original and I loved the idea of a female sniper! The author introduces all the members of the family, but concentrated her character building on the only sister in the Stone family, Jess. I assume each family member will get their own story until we know them all. The male lead, Colin, was a cool character, but I don't feel that the author spent as much time with his character growth as she did with Jess. I enjoyed this fast read and hope that Jess and Colin feature in more of the Family Stone stories. There are hot sexual scenes in this story and some mild violence.
Heat factor hot.

3.0 out of 5 stars All about the sex March 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I can't say this wasn't well written or well edited, however, it just wasn't my thing. I liked the characters, but the story was more sex than plot. If that is what you prefer, you will likely enjoy it.

5.0 out of 5 stars A great start to a new series January 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition
A drop dead sexy hero, a heroine worth rooting for and a plot filled with danger and intrigue, I loved every part of this story. Can't wait of the read the rest of the series.

2.0 out of 5 stars poorly developed characters April 17, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
Had potential but the pace is off. Sets up interesting s ting situation then resolves it far too quickly and easily. Hot sex does not substitute for good storytelling.

2.0 out of 5 stars Much too short May 1, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
This story started well - good storyline, interesting characters with a great supporting cast. There is the promise of good spinoff stories using the heroine's brothers but it's so hard to develop good characters in the novella format - there just aren't enough pages in the book. Needed to be longer! If this author's spinoff books are in the novella format, I won't bother. There just wasn't enough meat to the story.

3.0 out of 5 stars Just OK March 15, 2014

Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I put this story in my "Mediocre" category of book collections. I liked the story line as far as little sister getting out of the FBI to work with her brothers humanitarian organization only to find out they're involved in more covert operations. The danger factor had just the right amount of suspense. The sexual connection with the hero was great, but the time and places their sex encounters took place were totally unrealistic and drew something away from the suspense and danger of their situations. I would have enjoyed it more if the sexual tension had built up a little longer and the scenes took place in a believable time and place as in the prologue. It felt like the sex was just thrown in there wherever to make the story erotic. Not sure if I'll read any more of the books in the series.

4.0 out of 5 stars Found a new author March 19, 2014
Format:Kindle Edition|Verified Purchase
I got this book for two reasons: One, the price was right. Two, and most importantly, we have very similar titles to our series. Both are 'stone', but mine (Tess O'Connor) is an acronym S.T.O.N.E. series. The title of one of Lisa's is, "Heart of Stone' whereas mine is Heart of S.T.O.N.E. And we have similar titles for the rest of our series. We both have an interest in spies. I, therefore, had to check her out. And glad I did.
I liked the first book and will buy the rest of the series. Her sex scenes are hotter than mine, but that may be a good thing for many readers. I liked the story and the characters lived up the hype. My only complaint so far is that the book was too short. But I will definitely add Lisa Hughey to my list of authors.

4.0 out of 5 stars good February 20, 2014

3.5 This was pretty good. This is about a group of relief worker/assassins? maybe?? I'm still not clear on that but I think that's about it. The writing was good. But it was not realistic to be having sex when on a mission. I mean seriously? Then they are both constantly distracted by each other that all they are thinking about is sex. Okay come on really? Your car is being searched by guys with machine guns and you are thinking about is where the blood in your head rushed too. But I am curious about the rest of the Stone family I will continue on with the series.
