Book Description

January 26, 2012
Heading out west to Nebraska becomes a nightmare when Aiden Conner's fiance deserts her. Having a knife held to her throat by a blond-haired Cheyenne warrior only adds to her terror. All she wants is to return home to her family in St. Louis, but a blizzard traps her and her wounded captor in a cabin in the wilderness. After the betrayal of his mother's people, Stone Heart has sworn to never again speak the language of his white father. He vows to see that the surviving Northern Cheyenne, the Beautiful People, are allowed to return to their home. But the red-haired Irish woman will surely die if he abandons her. As they weather the storm and fight together to survive, they find that, despite their different worlds, their hearts are one and the same. When Stone Heart leaves her to free his people imprisoned at Ft. Robinson, Aiden determines to help him in any way she can. Only then can she truly be Stone Heart's Woman.

This was my first experience with Kindle and I loved it, especially my first story, Stoneheart's Woman. The details put me right in the middle of the action. The story opened my eyes further to the plight of the Indians and how other people took over their land and destroyed their lifestyles. I also enjoyed
learning more about the talents of Velda Brotherton, a fantastic writer.

Velda Brotherton is a fantastic author. She has written all genres--nonfiction to fiction. I'm so glad she's returned to historical romance. Brotherton captures your interest in the first page and keeps you turning the pages. You never want her stories to end, but rest assured. There's always another Brotherton gem for you to discover.

Brotherton pulls us into the action from the start in a finely paced romantic adventure. Both Stone Heart's and Aiden's conflicts are real: he has chosen to favor the Cheyenne side of his blood and, as such, should show no sympathy, and certainly not love, for a white woman. Aiden, on the other hand, wants to return to her `civilized' family home, and a so-called savage is the last person she wants to help. Will Stone Heart live up to his name?
Brotherton is a skilled writer, able to play on our emotions with evocative imagery that draws us in and makes us care for her characters. This is an engrossing, well-researched book which I highly recommend. I'm now looking forward to reading the author's Images In Scarlet.
