5.0 out of 5 stars First Lady Of Ole-Soul Music
Without a doubt, Angie Stone is phenomenal. This DVD is a live concert, singing her most popular tunes. There is something to be said about an artist who sings so effortlessly. 3.0 out of 5 stars OK
Angie's ok for those who like this sort of thing. The singing is good, but for me, there is not much of a show.

She doesn't have to sweat or strain for you to feel the magnitude of her powerful voice. She is the epitome of soul music, when Don Cornelius created Soul Train, he had to have been thinking about artist like Angie Stone. Let's not forget who wrote BROTHER, paying homage to all the black men where ever they are. This is a must have for any collector of soul music.

5.0 out of 5 stars Excellent Soul Performance, December 10, 2005

This review is from: Stone Hits Live: The Very Best of Angie Stone (DVD)
When I saw that this was a DVD of a live performance of Angie Stone, that was all I needed to know. One thing about all of our "soul" artists, you know they can put together a stellar collection of musicians and backgound singers to lay it down. This DVD did not disappoint! Ms. Stone was in good voice, as well as her two background singers (check out "Touch It", hammercy) and the band provided a solid backing for every song. The audio, although only a 2-channel stereo mix was provided, was recorded and mixed very crisply and the director kept the visuals relatively gimmick free, helping the concert to flow smoothly-with the exception of a couple of interviews that cut off the ends of two songs.

If you are a fan of funky good live performances, add this to your collection, and support our TRUE artists!

5.0 out of 5 stars ANGIE JUST KEEPS GETTING BETTER WITH TIME!, January 6, 2006
This review is from: Stone Hits Live: The Very Best of Angie Stone (DVD)
I PURCHASED THE 'VERY BEST OF ANGIE STONE' DVD AS SOON AS I HEARD IT WAS RELEASED. I MUST HAVE PLAYED IT A MILLION TIMES (ESPECIALLY 'STAY FOR AWHILE' W/ ANTHONY HAMILTON AND THE 'TOUCH IT' INTERLUDE) BEFORE I REALIZED THEIR WAS AN CD/AUDIO VERSION AS WELL. TO SAY THE DVD IS EXCELLENTLY ENTERTAINING IS AN UNDERSTATEMENT! ANGIE'S SUPERB SINGING IS EFFORTLESS AND NEVER OVERDONE....SHE IS GREAT DURING EVERY PERFORMANCE. HER HUMBLENESS IS ENDEARING ALSO AS SHE FREQUENTLY SHARES THE STAGE WITH HER PHENOMENAL BACK-UP SINGERS. THEIR SOLOS ON 'TOUCH IT' ARE SPINE-TINGLING!! HER MC, THC, IS OFF THE CHAIN TOO! HE ADDS THE PERFECT AMOUNT OF GRITTINESS TO HER SONGS...HE IS VERY EASY ON THE EYES TOO! THE DVD IS ONE BIG PARTY IN YOUR LIVINGROOM AS ANGIE MOTIVATES YOU TO INTERACT WITH SEVERAL SONGS. SHE EVEN GETS SOME CUTE DANCE MOVES OUT OF YOU ON 'I WISH I DIDN'T LOVE YOU ANYMORE'. THE CONCERT ALWAYS SEEMS TO END SO QUICKLY EVERY TIME I WATCH IT...GREAT JOB ANGIE AND CREW!

4.0 out of 5 stars a choice to be made..., March 17, 2006

The choice that you can make is between different dvd's offering Angie Stone's great live performance. The "best of" version is great, the music is nice but sometimes the narrative cuts in too soon. Not a bad word on the music or the performance as it's all good, but the DVD "pure sessions" is my favorite. It's in a small club, the flow of the concert is kept intact and you feel a bit more like being there.

5.0 out of 5 stars Angie Stone is Criminally Underated!!!!!, January 25, 2006
This review is from: Stone Hits Live: The Very Best of Angie Stone (DVD)
Angie Stone is a true artist. This dvd is so damn funky I must have played it a million times. She is such a great live performer. She had the whole place dancing with her and that is not an easy feat for any performer. Please support a real soul sista who is under appreaciated in the mighty music industry. I'll definitely be checking her out next time she rools through my town.

Angie Stone started out a little boring and some narrative parts in between her performance, but her overall "live" concert was very very good.
